Nice move!

Then we aren't as short on money as much as I thought.

It seems as though we are hiring a lot of help to improve the current level of the staff, in addition to newcomers.

I hope this pushes the performance level of the team. We've been subsisting in an industry which demands constant growth for too long.

alexander wurz @alex_wurz:

This Driver Mentor job, or performance management is not a threat to classical mgmt, but logical progression of performance optimisation

Moto Action is the name of the show that focuses mostly on bikes but seems to be doing a special on Pastor and Williams F1.

Obvious comment. He's always been known as a tightwad though. I think somewhere he also admitted letting Webber go was probably not ideal. I remember he said something like, 'we thought he was part of the problem at the time', but later changed his mind.

He says the 33 was deficient in all areas, including 'lacking some horsepower'. Does that sound as if Cosworth never really solved the degradation issue?

Williams drivers say Alex Wurz's role as driver mentor will help improve their performances

"if it's good enough for Tiger Woods and Roger Federer, it's good enough for Bruno Senna and Pastor Maldonado" says Wurz.

The Marussia F1 Team has confirmed that the planned first test of its 2012 race car - the MR01 - has been delayed as a result of failing to pass the final FIA crash test. All cars are required to pass 18 tests for homologation to be granted. The MR01 has passed 17 of the 18 tests but the cars cannot run unless the final test is completed and so the team has been forced to miss the final pre-season test in Barcelona, starting on March 1. This is bad news for the team, which has been busy this winter moving its activities from Yorkshire to Banbury. That is no real excuse.
The HRT has also had trouble with its tests and it remains to be seen whether it will make the test. There are media reports from Spain that the team will be there with a car, but it remains to be seen whether these will prove to be correct.

Frank Williams says Adam Parr is natural successor as team boss

And this is where Williams will become unstuck.

I am sure you need lots of bunsiness people behind the scenes in F1 but the Team Principle and guiding light *HAS* to be a racer in my opinion.

Everything in an F1 team comes down to laptime. Even investor returns (eventually). I strongly beleive you need a racer to take the performance-led approach and forsake other things in the interim.

Ferrari tried this in the early 90s and it was not until Todt was given automony (racer), backed up by Montezemolo (racer) that the Scuderia had direction. That's when they developed a V10, got Schumacher, Brawn and Byrne and got on with it.

Sir Frank - PLEASE take note!!

Have a read of the mole on Saward's blog, talk of the new top man (Tavares) at Renault, promoting the Alpine range of sports cars though not wanting to own a F1 team.

Possiblilities for a Williams Renault tie up? As the article mentions, Tavares was the one who did the Williams deal and brought Prost into the fold...
