negotiation with VW

Sir Frank in negotiation with VW (http://www.sport1.de/de/formel1/formel1_teams/artikel_214303.html).
Frank has offer VW a shareholding.

Is it true? Did somebody else heard about this?

It's certainly been mooted that VW has an interest in looking at options.

Cosworth appears to be partnering more with Lotus and looking at specialist performance opportunities in the US.

I'm sure Williams hoped more would come of the Toyota link . . . remember the Williams-Lexus talks . . . but all we got was this lousy Nakajima T-shirt . . .

Wow - if this comes to fruition & coincides with my anticpated job @ VW USA down the street - there will certainly be a F1 marketing tie up & maybe the boys will come for a visit.

Awesome!

I'm getting tired of VW rumours really but I luv to see that.
But as far as I know, one their head men in motorsport said a while ago that they are interested only in engine supply, no team, no shareholding.

I hope it is true the tie up with Porsche does mean there is a link there already.

I think VW sponsor toro Rosso already so we can't rule out them linking up with another cash strapped team

and mehryar, that they,VW, would only contemplate involvement around the 'new' engine specification when it was announced as to what the architechture would be.

Hmmmmm . . . 'contemplating involvement around . . when was . . would . . '

Totally baffling sentence, even for you, K1.

Were you on the sauce again this evening?

If VW comes with a serious plan as an engine supplier, great. Otherwise I think it's better to continue being independent.

however I'm sure SFW knows what's best and that he's infinitely more informed than we are...

AUTOBLOG
Porsche has raised its stake yet again in Volkswagen, going from a bit above 30% ownership in the German giant to a solid 35.14%. The purchase apparently gives Porsche, or rather the company that owns Porsche – Porsche Automobil Holding SE – control over VW. It released a statement today that said, "as a result of this acquisition, Volkswagen... has become a subsidiary of Porsche Automobil Holding SE." Pursuant to German securities law, Porsche also made an offer to purchase Audi at the bare minimum stock price of 487 euros per share. Though Porsche says there are no plans to separate Audi from VW, it's unlikely VW will accept the offer anyway. All of this is but a single step on Porsche's long path to securing more than 50% ownership in VW. In the meantime, VW representatives will now have a seat on Porsche Automobil Holding's employee council and supervisory board. The power struggle between these two companies will undoubtedly continue, with Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche leading the charge for his company while his cousin, Ferdinand Piech, holds court for Volkswagen and the powerful labor unions that are trying to stop this takeover.

I think that is an old post from 2008. It sparked off a hostile takeover bid that resulted in Porche having to take more shares in VW than it could really afford. As a result it got into financial trouble and VW bought Porche out. The Porche CEO was heavily criticised for his actions and left the company along with a fair chunk of Porche's management team.

There might be some legs in the story. It is a bit like the Toyota split story. It won't go away. I wonder if Peter Sauber is on the same trail.

Williams and proud of it.
