Williams with innovative aero developments? Surely not! lol

This makes a very refreshing change from what we have been served up in recent years.

Good posts everyone. thumbs down

Williams and proud of it.

You could be right Anderis, Bottas is in Senna's car for FP1, is that Sennas car ?

That is the old setup. It is a fantastic picture but he's after the new part installed at the bottom of the hub. I'm also yet to see a clear shot of this part.

Someone might have been Francesc posted a pic last week and you can see right through that new duct.

as statet in the article on f1technical:
''Williams have been running all winter with front brake ducts that seemingly contain no inlet duct. The same sort of duct was seen at Melbourne, although, as visible in the inset, Williams added a flow conditioner on the lower part of the upright compared to the most recent winter test at Barcelona.''

it is not a brake duct, but an aero related change.

I saw that. But the Australian inset picture in that article was tiny & I could see anything but the very top curve of said conditioner.

In the picture I posted, i full view it looks like a traditional brake duct.

Are my eyes wrong or I can see new logo on the rear wing? Doesn't look like Wihuri.
More like Kemppi, which is also one of the companies that support Bottas.

On one side there's Wihuri, on the other Kemppi.

FRAN TO THE RESCUE.

thx

edit:
that's purely to induce the aerodynamic swirl effect.

forgot the name. starts with M*

somerville's designs seem to be clean, simple, yet very complex in function.

Cool seeing the KERS or whatever KERS-related component that is just aft of the engine, with the warning sticker on it.

It'd be wonderful to se F1 cars run naked around the track. No bodywork, just the mechanical skeleton. Weird but wonderful. Probably very slow though by not having the downforce. My mind wanders off...

Analysis of our front brake ducts on F1.com (although they completely miss out our flow conditioner)

And Sauber copied our solution:

I just like to say I am really impressed, what a good car Gillan & spol were able to get together! And also is apparent how important the continual development is. The "clean sheet design" doesn't work immediately - neither in Williams, nor in Ferrari. I like Gillan didn't throw away FW33 as whole, but developed it on the higher level.
Of course, Renault engines helped us - and for that I'd like to thank all the team of SFW - not to stick at one place, but search for progress in every possible field.
This year beginning is a wanderful change towards last two years.

Nothing like an engine issue to explain what we are doing with our exhaust.

Blowing brake ducts and beam wing, as derived from prior conversations, but now visually represented.

We should have opened up the rear end a bit for more cooling in Malaysia. Pastor's engine problem was most likely related to insufficient cooling. We needed just a few holes more down there.

Also, What's up with the helicopter tape mega treatment in the RW end plate?

http://www.racecar-engineering.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/upfw34.jpg

If we achieved good pace at Malaysia with such sloppy end plate contraption, our pace should be a tiny bit better in the future with that thing properly attached.

The tape was for the repair done after Senna spun on the first lap, and crashed into Pastorsmiling smiley

Considering that image of one car going sideways into the other, it was an achievement we were running 6th and 10th at the end.

For China, please can the race be two laps less, Pastor might get a points finish then!

The RW end plate helicopter tape treatment is shown on both sides of the car.

I don't think its related to Senna crashing into Pastor.

Can anyone else confirm this?
