Not to sure Pancho, but Senna did hit the back of Pastor side on, so all the rear wing would have taken a hit from Senna's car.

Maybe the colision didn't cause the damage at all, infact looking again, the tape is on the front part of the wing, when Senna would have hit the back part

Is there a tube in the picture showing the left hand side as you look from the back?

Senna's wing came from Melbourne damaged. The damage to each side are for different cars.

Re: FW34
Mr. Pink 26 March, 2012 08:26
True, damage on Senna car is from Melbourne and it is on the left side.
However, looking at Pastor's car he has a similar tape on the right hand side. It is not broken but there is a lot of tape.
It might be that the DRS cabling is not done properly and it tears through the wing material.

Hopefully, it will be rectified by China.

Guys, have you seen the onboard with Maldonado late in the race? He had an inmense amount of understeer on the fast turn 5-6 section.

McLaren got rid of their snowplugh because they had too much downforce at the front.

Maybe it's time to bring back the 2009 snowplugh?

The RW end plate helicopter tape treatment is shown on both sides of the car.
I don't think its related to Senna crashing into Pastor.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Maybe the team tested something /RW/ that we will see in China..?

Race-car engineering stated:

Williams tested something on its rear wing endplate which involved using a hydraulic line running up towards the main plane. It is likely that this is part of an updated DRS mechanism

This makes sense as we had been reporting our DRS was less effective than some. Maybe we can fit a hydraulic system internally in the endplate. Are there rules about thickness & profile of this?

Two cool pictures (That really shows how readily the exhaust bends after exiting the pipe):

This is an Italian forum, some users on this site are responsible for the italian Bruno Senna fan club ..

One of them wrote: 'This evening I received a wonderful phone call from London.

Bruno is in seventh heaven, is as happy as a child and very confident. The FW34 is very good, according to him only RB, McLaren and Lotus are faster, they play with Sauber. Ferrari and Mercedes are slower.
Tomorrow there will be an important technical meeting for a major package of updates (including exhaust) in view of Barcelona. He says that their DRS is very very effective.

The source is reliable, because in recent years the fanclub was hosted on the site of F1 where I am the moderator .. and so I know those people!

New exhaust and a major package of updates, sounds very promising!

This is where we find out how big our teams balls are this year. The major update package. It has to work from the offset otherwise we're still in a pretty crappy position development wise (like last year.) I hope this car, like the 32, will be responsive to updates immediately. They say she reacted well to change where Barrichello used to say that the Fw33 rarely felt different. Must have been a horrible car to drive.

Re: FW34
pgj 28 March, 2012 21:05
Not only that. We have to find out if we have managed to work out that when a new component is developed and bolted on - it works.

It has been stated by the team that the race team did not work well with the development team. Maybe the updates did not work because the development team were given duff information.

Williams and proud of it.

Re: FW34

We would be wasting our time pursuing an F-duct at this point.

Very little to gain for the effort needed.

Right now, we need more stability fast corners. If the updated package fixes that, we will move forward significantly.

Pastor was indeed suffering a bit with understeer in fast curves in Sepang when the track dried up.

The blue of that era was the blue of BMW's logo. The blue used now is the blue that Williams wants to indentify itself with. Something that was not done during the 90's and early 2000's. A color identifies a manufacturer and thats the reason why Williams went for blue. Merc has silver, Macca has siler or orange, Ferrari has (obviously) red, Honda is white, etc, etc..
I dont think though, that a specific shade of color attracts more sponsors than another shade of the same color. Unless it is pink or purple, the color would not matter for attracting sponsors.

It probably looks quite good in the flesh. A lot of the photos I've seen have been underexposed which makes it look darker than it is (the metering of the cameras is fooled by the white area).
