their work on the setup...I feel the same program in Jerez

Many others are doing stints of 3 or 4 laps on the soft (or medium like seb)

LOTUS READY FOR THE DAY PROBLEM WITH CHASSIS

Re: Barcelona testing 21st-24th February
TerraNova19 21 February, 2012 12:35
Lotus F1 Team has stopped running early in the first day of testing at Barcelona and will not run for the rest of the day.

ROMAIN GROSJEAN, LOTUS F1 TEAM RACE DRIVER:
“We completed a few aero runs and then started timed runs, but I was very quickly aware that the car wasn’t responding as it should. It’s not ideal to lose track time, but fortunately we will have the chassis which ran perfectly in Jerez so I should get some good track time tomorrow. It’s far better that we have an issue like this now rather than in Melbourne.”

ALAN PERMANE, TRACKSIDE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR:
“This morning was our first shakedown of our second chassis. Once the car was on track it was soon evident that everything wasn’t quite as it should be. As a precaution we are returning the chassis to Enstone for further investigation. Chassis E20-01, which we used in Jerez, is being sent over and we expect to be on track with that chassis tomorrow.”

ERIC BOULLIER, TEAM PRINCIPAL:
“This is a minor setback to our overall test programme. Fortunately we accumulated good mileage in Jerez. If this is the only issue we have during testing then we will still be well prepared for the start of the season. We’ll be back on track tomorrow with chassis E20-01 and assessing chassis E20-02 back at Enstone.”

Looks like all the teams had a long paella break.

So far, the second chassis seems to be working.

It's really good news about Alex. As well as driver mentoring, he has a lot of testing experience. McLaren thought it well worth while keeping Pedro around, even with two WDCs as drivers. I imagine Alex will be helpful with the simulator programme too.

the spec of chassis is the same ... but it is the second chassis of the 34. The chassis is always the same, what varies is the aerodynamics smiling smiley (which is the same today than in Jerez)

90 Laps so far but pacewise seems to be not there

Re: Barcelona testing 21st-24th February
Marco Cardoso 21 February, 2012 15:18
compared to the times the others are doing now where one of the fastest... the best times where made in short stints and soft tyres.
these times mean very little.
I don´t think williams is even going for qualifying runs yet..

Oh come on guys, we don't know what fuel loads people are running. To me it looks like we're running all the time on 60%-100% of fuel tank capacity.

We won't see any qualifying laps until the day before the last of next week's test.

Re: Barcelona testing 21st-24th February
ADW 21 February, 2012 15:24
I think the pace is too difficult to judge, but is ok. I'd guess that we could easily go a second faster just on tyres and fuel.
What's slightly worrying me is the drop off in laptimes as the stint continues. Not as consistent as at Jerez. Though that was the last day there, and this is the first day here.

exacly this times mean nothing.
the mileage is the most important. and the car seems to be having no big problems so that good.

Take a look at McLaren or even Red Bull long stints. Does not look impressive too!

New engine, new peoples and no mechanical problems, no drivers mistakes, just count the laps : )

Look at Lotus, Caterham.. Sauber & Ferrari too - i smell problems there.
