The best 'result' I'm hoping for from this test is for the lap times to improve every day, showing progress is being made on the stability of the car and better understanding of the baseline setup.
As a Bruno fan It feels odd to be hoping that he's slower than both Valteri and Pastor...

if valteri and pastor get a better time than bruno it does not necessary means that he is slower it could be just different tests.

it is worth noting that bottas is doing runs of 10-12-15 laps for each stint

i think it is a gp simulation...

No, it's not. He's doing setup work always with the same fuel load.

It's obvious from the comments from lots of different sources yesterday that the car isn't behaving particularly well. Let's hope they can make progress with the setup to solve the bad handling traits that the car seems to have at present.

10:40 @eddstraw reports: Quick update on Williams. As Bottas will be driving on 15 Fridays this year, the team is trying to give him some experience of the kinds of programme he will be expected to run during free practice.
So that means tyre evaluations, a little practice at part evaluation and the usual early set-up work.

A logical move to better prepare him for a role that requires him to make a real contribution to the race weekend.

Problems at Red Bull? Only 8 timed laps today.

The two fastest times so far were set on super softs. We thought you'd like to know. Vettel's time, we believe, was set on mediums

What will be the comments if we had Red Bull test times from today?

Quite a few teams again doing 2 or 3 lap qually style runs, I have a feeling Williams wont do that until Pastor is in the car maybe Friday, it will look good for his sponsors I suppose as he is bringing in a mighty chunk of cash.

69 laps completed by Bottas this morning as we go into the lunch break. He's now talking with his engineers before jumping out the car

Great job from Bottas.

Hulkenberg and Perez both set identical lap times with the same tyres; super-softs.

And Vettel did has done his best lap with softs.

are we using softs and ss? or are we using them with 100kilos of fuel on..

i have read that renault would consume from 18-20 litre fuel less for each gp..that should give us an edge on some of our midfield teams...at least i hope so

Lotus E20 chassis crisis bigger than they want to admit?

Romain Grosjean stopped his Lotus E20 during Jerez testing
Feb.22 (GMM) Lotus is grappling with a major flaw on their E20 chassis with less than one month before the start of the 2012 Formula 1 world championship season.

Kimi Raikkonen will miss out on valuable track time
The former Renault team has sensationally abandoned this week’s Barcelona test and returned to its Enstone headquarters, after an unspecified chassis fault was detected on the new E20 car on Tuesday.

“We’ll put the right measures in place and we will be able to fix the problem before next week,” said technical director James Allison.

But Gary Anderson, formerly the designer of Jordan and Jaguar cars, believes Lotus is playing down the problem.

“You would have thought they could have fixed it overnight – chassis are made of carbon fibre composite so you’d be looking to bond new strengthening parts on,” he told the BBC.

“In my experience, if you can’t do it in 24 hours, I don’t think you can do it at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if this meant they needed a new chassis, which would make it touch and go for the first race.”

Auto Motor und Sport thinks Lotus did not discover the fundamental problem at Jerez last week because the track is not as demanding as the Circuit de Catalunya,

The problem means that Kimi Raikkonen, who was set to take over the E20 for the final two days in Barcelona, will miss out on track time made more even more valuable by his two year absence from F1.

Very happy with his performance. Still pleased the FW34 is letting the team get through their programmes and collect useful data.

We tend to be on harder tyres and longer runs than most so I think there is more to come but i'd say we not top of the midfield at the moment.

I hope the slow corner instability is not a congenital problem, but something that can be fixed with setup and minor development.
