Oris Renews Sponsorship with the Williams F1 Team

Posted on Friday 24 Feb 2012

The Williams F1 Team is pleased to today confirm that its long-term official watch partner, Oris, has again renewed its sponsorship of the team ahead of the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship.

Oris and Williams entered into partnership in 2003 and have subsequently enjoyed a strong relationship. New for 2012, the Oris logo has a revised position on the FW34, and will feature on the cars’ front wing pillars as well as on driver and mechanic overalls, driver gloves and team collateral as before.

From its original site in the village of Hölstein, Switzerland Oris has been producing high-quality, purely mechanical watches, from classic watches to performance sports instruments, for more than a century. The Oris designers work with the latest technology at the cutting edge of watch making without sacrificing the traditional values or quality that the company and its customers demand. All Oris watches incorporate their hallmark red rotor as an integral element of the design mechanism.

On the upgraded agreement, Oris’ Executive Chairman, Ulrich W. Herzog, commented, “Renewing the collaboration reinforces our support and commitment to the Williams F1 Team and the motor sports industry as a whole. Here at Oris we witness the ongoing dedication of the Williams F1 Team to achieve success, an attribute that we identify with and encourage as it reflects our own mission statement: real watches for real people.”

Sir Frank Williams, Team Principal of the Williams F1 Team, added, “Oris is one of our established and long-term partners and we are delighted that they have once again renewed their relationship with the team. We have had a strong and enjoyable partnership with Oris over the past nine years and the fact that they are renewing their support means a lot to the team as it demonstrates their commitment to our ambitions for the year as we look to a more successful 2012. I’d like to thank them once again for their support and to say that we are all looking forward to working with them again over the coming year.”

Look what a mess with our partners at the bottom of the official website. There are four groups with 5 logos each and there is only MAN, our smallest partner in the last group, in down-left corner of the site.

It looks like they are waiting to add some more partners. Otherwise they should make it looking better an more orderly right now.

Strangely enough on the partners section, when you click to read more about the sponsor (any of them) it redirects you back to the main page...

Good spot, Francesc.

Hope something positive is on the way with our partners.

Even if not, we seem to be one of very little teams which have better sponsorship package, than last year. Even if we don't count Senna's sponsors, we have lost only AT&T, GAC and Sparco, and we have Renault, MJP and Puma onboard, with Hatch signed in second half of the last season.
Even McLaren looks pretty "empty" this season.

But Puma is not an sponsor, only a supplier as are RAYS and MAN.

And so was Sparco which we have lost. They're on our official partners section, unlike some other suppliers (even Cosworth weren't!), so I counted them.

Aren't you getting a little bit hyper-critical anderis? How would you improve the bottom of the page? You seem fixated with "clusters"

I would just put Man with group from McGregor to PPG. They used to put 6 or 7 logos in one row some time ago, so shouldn't be a problem.

I named it as a mess cause it's the first time when single logo appears at the bottom. What is more: it's the logo of small partner and it's not central, but on the left side. It just looks strange, especially if you got used to see something different here.
They were always using a layout that considered the amount of sponsors, and if the amount of sponsors changed, they changed the layout in order to fill up all rows, not to leave the single logo on the next row.

This time they haven't done it. It looks strange and different from what I got used to see and it has nothing to do of me being hyper-critical or not.

And from my experience, if there was any mess in logos at the bottom of the side, they were changing the amount of it in very short time. It looks like temporary solution.

I noticed that Oris was linked as partner "65" (if you hover over the link under 'our partners').

Head & Shoulders was linked as partner "42".

I'm being incredibly picky and optimistic - but previously all new sponsors were sequential from when they were announced - 42 to 65 is a big jump. Perhaps other deals have been inked already but not announced?

I mean, it'd be nice, but it really is incredibly optimistic thinking!

Oh, they need to place Oris against the countdown timer again.

Nice idea to check the numbers of partners in links!
Here are they:
McGregor: 12
Thomson Reuters: 14
MAN: 18
PPG: 19
Randstad: 20
Rays: 21
Ridge: 24
PDVSA: 28
Venezuela Tourism: 29
Michael Caines: 30
Pirelli: 31
Interbrand: 32
Ingenie: 33
Hatch: 34
MJP: 35
Embratel: 36
MRV: 37
OGX: 38
Renault: 39
Gillette: 40
PUMA: 41
Head&Shoulders: 42
ORIS: 65

Well, I wouldn't expect 22 new partners. grinning smiley

That was nice of him to try though.

in this economic situation is difficult to find investors. Then if you come from a disastrous season is even worse .. the only way to find sponsors is going well on track

I don't trust Prost. He will say anything for his own benefit and make himself look good in the spotlight.

Nice of him to 'say' that he tried though, even if it meant absolutely nothing in the end.

Re: ORIS hasen't leave the team.....more to come?

Drunky, I totally agree with you. Plus Prost is a Renault guy, the only reason why he drove for us back in '93 was because Renault wanted success with a French driver.
Though if there is someone in France who could bring ome sponsors up, its Prost. By just looking at the sponsor package back in the early days of his team the sponsors where huge. Gauloises, bic, agfa, playstation, Alcatel are quick the names I can recall out of my head. Those are or where all multinationals.
So maybe if he gave it a shot again in a year or so or just keeps his ears out on a listen, perhaps we are having some new sponsors soon.
