Mark Gillan comments on Maldonado

"Having won in Spain and being a specialist in Monaco, hopes were high that Maldonado could deliver another strong result in Monte Carlo. However, he recklessly drove in to Sergio Perez during the final free practice session - earning himself a ten-place grid penalty - and Gillan confirmed that from the team's point of view it was not a complete accident.

"I think that the incident was avoidable and therefore disappointing and that the penalty was therefore understandable," Gillan said."

Mark Gillan was quite verbal on Maldonado Accident. I do not blame Gillan to be unhappy after the turn around in WilliamsF1 in less than a year having to deal with this childish behavior from Maldonado and Senna slow qualify.

Nice blunt words from Gillan.

If they need more discipline they must remember that Patrick is just a phone call away.

HaHa yeah. Williams must seem like a playground for Maldonado this season. No Parr, No Head. Just the cold heart of SFW to contend with!

I'm sure Patrick would be only too happy to weigh in with a bit of Shock and Awe....

I don't think Gillan needs any support from Patrick. His quote is a public displeasure at a bit of childishness and, by Williams standards, that is a pretty severe reprimand. Back that up with Toto's more discrete stance and it would be hard for Maldo not to take notice.

Lurcher, I agree entirely...I just have a comical vision of Gillan going "and just to show our concern and displeasure, here is an angry man:" and Patrick does a lap of the office at 100% angry mode then leaves...

Or have someone at the end of the pit lane with a big poster to show Pastor (and Bruno) as they enter the track.

They should put it on the middle of the steering wheel.

I think some here do not recall the Patrick Head of old. A fearsome character indeed. He would bounce Pastor up and down the pit lane before breakfast.

No egos required at Williams please. Leave them at the door. This is not the team for that.

Sorry, but this is a very different situation.

Pastor could take his 50 million and walk away anytime. Williams is not paying Bruno a red cent either, so he can dawdle around the track slowly 'til kingdom come.

The old Williams / PH ways are psychologically wrong on these guys , , , you have to motivate them. They are pay drivers and what makes them tick is different. Williams - the team - has to find out what that is.

I also think Gillan prepared the drivers very badly for Monaco , , almost no low fuel runs in FP3 when everyone else was well set up for qualy. This did not help Bruno at all .

Gillan is free to sound off about Bruno and Pastor, but he should be aware that he is not faultless either. Starting Bruno on hard tyres, or pitting him earlier than Kimi . . or much later . . would all have been better options. EVery other team reacted better/faster to Kimi slowing. .

Yes, we screwed up Monaco. At least Bruno brought home a point. Something lost on most people.

Move on. Let's see how we go in Canada. Somehow I think we will be high midfield here but I think it may be a chance for Senna to finally show his talent. He better do it soon.

Hope to see the new exhaust in the next race , if they have got it sorted then that should give us a bit more speed all round, and that would put us right in the mix again.

The whole team would of chilled and regrouped by canada, 100% up to speed again, with the air cleared between drivers and team.

gunk you may well be right in most of your assumptions but how do you prepare a driver for restraint from deliberately crashing into a competitor. as i have said before, maldonado seemed to get of lightly.

in my book he should've been banned from starting or got a three race suspension. what he did could well have resulted in serious injuries. this guy has got form and if he does it again then he will, i am sure, get the book thrown at him and rightly so.

i have a feeling that canada will favour williams if they can sort their drivers out. can't come quick enough for me.

The situation with Perez in Monaco was the same as with Hamilton last year in SPA. You remember that?
On both occasions he drove into them on purpose because he got @#$%& by them. On Hamilton because he passed him like an idiot on the last corner and with Perez because he slowed him down on a fast lap.
I guess he turns into Hulk when someone screws him over, nothing he can do. (Sm33)
