With some luck he will get himself a race bam and we can get a reserve driver in to do a proper job.

I feel that he will keep it off the wall but will be so slow.

But one other line of thinking could be that because he will on the softest of the tyres they will help him compared to running on say the medium tyre as in Spain.

I think he may lose a front wing or two during the weekend, drive it really nervy and slowly, qualify between 0.8-1.5 seconds behind Massa and not score anything, assuming he finishes. Pretty much what JB did in 2000.

That said, I think driving the car at low speed on a rhythmic track, constantly feeling the mechanical grip will help him learn how to handle these cars in the long termL it's all knowledge for the bank, so it's a necessary evil to go though. Replacing him for one race is a bit of a short sighted strategy, especially as Williams will be rubbish there in any case. Would Di Resta come away with more points? Nope. So I think keeping the pay master happy, giving Lance the training he needs seems like the wisest course of action.

Season is going to be a disaster. Very limited car and just half of the driver like I said here before season start. Lence is not a driver and Felipe is half a man he used to be.

True. Not in F1 anyways!

Evidence?? OMG. Just the fact that I have eyesight.BTW Lance it to arrogant and full of himself to make any progress. Felipe came out of retirement, mentally he was already on the beach. Claire went into the season with a lot of optimism and I'm afraid price is going to be to high.

sorry, but i'll take autosport journalist's trackside observations, ex driver turned commentator observations, race engineer data and onboard observations and Technical director on board and data observations, all confirming that Massa is confident and driving as well as ever, fast and consistently, above a trite statement from an armchair enthusiast that "Felipe's mind must be on the beach". must it?

Can you demonstrate that he is half a driver?

I doubt it.

You're just plucking that assumption out of the air because you're either frustrated, you don't like him, or you're trying to wind people up.

C'mon..Felipe was beaten by Bottas on regular basis and Williams went into the season with him and a absolute rookie? What kind of the plan was that? And they want third or fourth place in constructors? More like sixt..

When Felipe was driving well, he went toe to toe with Bottas, and the verdict from all the experts this year is, Felipe is driving well, hustling the car, and setting consistent representative lap times on all tyres, and all fuel loads of a car that's generally the 4th fastest at best- nothing more.

Im not sure what else he's supposed to do.

Felipe's not put a wheel wrong all year. He suffered a puncture in Russia, and was involved in a 50/50 incident in Spain. Williams were rubbish on a damp track in China, same as always. Net result? A faster car and a good driver on less points than Perez because Perez hasn't suffered tyre punctures, he hasn't had drivers trying silly moves on him and Force India have a good car in the wet. It's a simple analysis.

I'm talking about team ambition or what they say it suppose to be and you are talking strictly about his drive...

Oh so we aren't interested in his performance, rather, we are interested in more important matters, like media hype, or lack thereof.

Williams finished 5th last year, struggling for points, as a customer team with a third of the budget of it's works supplier. So what would have been your ambitious plan from that position?

If Claire has really turned the screw on Mercedes, than she pumped them also for a performance clause.. knowing that Valteri is that good, they may have even agreed to that. It could mean further $$$ for point loss during the season, but that we won't know for a while... if ever.

It was told that Valteri came to Mercedes at quite a high negotiated price!

Well to be fair.. A certain Dutchman has never seen the chequered flag in both years driving. Something Lance still has a chance on doing so.

The key point we are missing here is that we had no other eligible choice but to rehire Massa because of martini. Nobody wanted him in the car. We can't be angry at him, because he's the best we've got.

Who do you predict is going to score a point first this season, Stroll or Palmer?

Is any one of those two capable of making it through the season on 0 points?

none of them going to score till there's a crazy race or a big upgrade from Williams or Renault push them clear of midfield.
Atm midfield is very close and contains too many good drivers who know how to use every bit of given chance.like Hulk, Perez, Ocon, Alonso, Sainz, Kyvat and Massa for most of the time. All playing for 4 position.

With all the rule changes, the car and the racing is more suited to him and he seems to be using this to his potential.
But in all honesty, from what can be seen on track, he is nowhere near as agressive as he used to be in his prime.
