What are you guys thoughts on this car? Do you like it? Is it a win or a fail?

If you had a choice to own either the GIULIA QUADRIFOGLIO or a BMW M2 which one would you choose?

That Whitey is a no brainer. I have just read a complete road test done in the italian alps of this car and it certainly seems to be a cool piece of kit. The M2 is a hot item and well engineered but it's a BMW and that certainly doesn't float my boat although that's only a personal opinion. The Alfa is stylish car and not everyone's favourite...maybe that's why i like it. Where i live Mercedes and BMW are as common as Ford and GM products.

The alfa is a bit more pricey whitey at about 130K. The car is probably more m3 competition than the m2.

I would prefer the alfa, amd might look at it next, though i have not driven it, so hard to know the comparison.

Funny name... i trust germans more than italians, but who knows... to k1's point it certai ly is a bit different to whaf other have got.

Having said that, here un tasmania, i have not yet even seen another m2 other than mine... loads of bmws though

@ Duffer...I sure you realise that i wasn't trying to put your BMW down. They are excellent cars and i have owned four of them at various times but they are, IMO, now all rather bland. The 6 series and 4 series are IMO the best in range. A few weeks ago i was in the market for another new car. My downsizing was a mistake and i decide to sell the A3 Audi and move back up in the range. After looking at the Jaguar, Maserati Ghibli and Mercedes i finally went back to Audi and bought a new A5 S Line Quattro coupe with all the sports upgrade packs. So much depends on where you see your priorities. Performance with the ability to customise your comfort zones did it for me. As you said, there aren't many M2's in tassie! That's no surprise. I'm sure you're enjoying your M2. A good choice and it must be fun driving on traffic depleted roads!!!!

My only priority was performance and i got that. The interior and functionality are only just there to be honest, but like i said. Performance. It is such a fun car to drive.

Wife hates it with a passion. Too uncomfortable for her. She would much prefer the A5.

If i had the money, it would be the rs5... alsas, no, cant afford it.

In any case, i bought a car, not a brand... the car is cool. You have in no way upset me. In fact, that would be impossible.

Cheers.

Don't understand the naming convention. A car named after a woman and a 4 leaf clover?

Not sure if you are trolling, but Ill bite. The Giulia is a model that dates back to the sixties where Alfa started using the Giulia name for the first time. Since it was the follow up to the Giulietta, but didnt resemble it in grace and elegance, the name Giulietta was dropped in favor of Giulia.
It is just now since this decade that Alfa started using names again (MiTo, Brera, Giulia, Giulietta, Stelvio) instead of numbers to name their cars like they did since the 80ies.
The cloverleaf is just the racing "tag" from the early Formula One days that has been kept ever since for their sporty models. Just like AMG is to Mercedes, the RS is for Audi and the M for BMW.

Have test driven. Would buy, but residual values are shocking.

That has always been a problem with any Alfa Romeo.

Just watched a video on this car and it has a great exhaust note.

It does in person too if not slightly artificial with the pops and bangs. What I like about it, was that it felt about q0 years older. Many modern cars are too robotic and precise, this was a bit more raw and you can actually "drive" it

AJ, Guilleta as in Romeo and Juliette conjures up more emotion for me. Giulia and 4 Leaf Clover fails to.

Sounds good Mike.

@ Duffer....Yes, The M2 has shedloads of performance but it's the old maxim...is it useable? In Tassie maybe, here on the Gold Coast it would simply be a total waste but fun all the same. The A5 has all the performance needed and has the benefit of amongst other things, five different suspension settings meaning it can be hard, and i mean hard, and it can be comfortable. I choose to run it in 'auto' mode ATM which mean that the suspension adapts to changing road conditions. The RS5 would be the best fun choice but once again, performance totally unuseable. A friends ex wife has just bought the new Audi RS3 saloon and that is a complete beast. Zero to 100kms in 3.9secs....that's porsche territory!!!for around $85K. Great value IMO.

2018 Mustang GT is below 4sec 0 to 60 and It is a easy car to drive (get in and out). Alfa you need to be normal size and not too fat to fit on their bucket seats. Alfa value for resale low. BMW maintenance is high specially after warranty expires and the M2 is a small car. The sound of the 5.0 V8 is another plus. You can buy the performance package with the magnetic suspension. Also for the price of the alfa you could buy a GT350 with the 5.2 flat crack
