I work in design and that seems really bad, one thing is simplicity that catches the eye, another is something that as no appeal at all.
At least the former logo had the 1 on the canvas and that was very well thought for a 23yo design now this one isn't catchy at all and has no dinamic.

I think there's an english saying : when something's not broken, why fix it?
well, they do and I wonder why!

It's like Mercedes Benz changing its logo or Apple...though it's even in a bigger scale...why should they change?

But Mercedes and Apple have changed their logo through the years.

It's not uncommon for people resist change at first. In other words it will grow on you.

I think the previous F1 logo was tired and dated, this new one is simple, clean and adapts to the digital platforms much nicer.

It's very much in the ESPN or TSN style.

The logos you are referring to are ones that were updated, not changed completely. The F1 one changed completely. And then there is the issue that it has changed for the worst.

I don't mind it.

Needed a refresh and it'll grow on you.

Just like the halo. You won't notice it by 2019.

I like it and I agree with Syd's thoughts.

Ha!

I thrive on change, which is why I love F1, so I actually meant it.

I think the halo will look much better than people fear once the designers integrate it into the car and blend in the colour scheme.

There have been many other shocking design changes to F1 cars over the years and it usually only takes a few races to get used to them.

And logos are logos. Everyone will get used to it. I'm more interested in Liberty transforming the multimedia digital delivery of F1 with customisable live streaming and stats and hopefully the new logo is the first sign of them taking bold new steps in this direction.

Nah, I do get your point (got it at the first "troll message" of you). But to me the logo change represents something more. It represents the change that Liberty is too eager to kick off. In the way Liberty sees it; everything needs to change. The sport should become more and more entertainment and it is all about image.
I do get at some level that you need to change things. But first things first. Address the important things first. Get in touch with the teams and the FIA to change the car. Make it less about Aero and more about mechenical grip. Get rid of those overengineered front- and rear wings. Bring back ground effect (like the Indycar does in 2018) to enhance racing. Address the inconsistency of the sterwards. Change the point scoring system so that every position gets a point. So that it really does matter if you finish 13th or 12th. Reward pole position with a point. Reward the fastest lap with a point. Stuff like that are way way way waaaaaaay more important than changing a logo.

Go check the original Apple logo and the Original Mercedes Logo. Your bias is expected.

The apple with its bite out of it was always there. It just got updated to the current form. But the logo remained the same.
Same goes for the Mercedes logo. The star form with a circle around it was Always there ever since Mercedes and Benz merged. It altered, but the general idea remained. With F1 the logo changed completely. As well as form, as depth, as color as font. It is a totally different story. Nothing biased about that. Just being objective.

As Ive said; the logo has never changed. What is it with you and your fued to get me to say that you are right? Because you arent. The first logo was never in use as an official Apple logo. It never appeared on any machines. And as you can see for yourself, the following logo's were all an evolution but all still recognisable to one another.
The previous F1 logo and current one arent even comparable.

Go argue with Steven Jobs, if you can not see that the Apple Logo changed. What you mean to say is that you always remember it as an Apple. So the 1976 logo is a fiction of imagination?

You're acting like you know it all. But the fact is that the logo remained the same. It has just got tweaked. To and from colors. Adding a glaze over it. Retracting the glaze. It is all the same logo. It's a completely different situation than having F1's logo simply thrown away and got a shot logo instead. And for your information, the 1976 logo was used not even for 2 months. Still it has appeared only on a hand full of invoices. Got one of those letters, you could sell it for a hefty sum of money.
