Top job mate thanks a lot. Guess we won't see the development parts today with Rowland in the car but very interested in tomorrow.

I think maybe the development parts were used friday??

Will it be just a case of Robert spending the day playing around with them??

Re: BARCELONA Test

I think they said they had some parts that were not for racing but for future development. Sounds like they could be looking at where the car is underperforming and ensuring their future development is along the right tracks.

He will also try his setup ideas that hes been suggesting since the beginning of the season but the team never wanted to do go through with them. He said he cant wait for today/tomorrow because of that. I dont know if Rowland todays is using the setups Robert wanted to try or not. He also said that the soft tyres were the best for us after winter testing here and he was perplexed when he read that we went so aggressive with the super softs this weekend.

Agreed.

The problem as you know is the car it will not work on the softer compounds or if it does we gain very very little from it.

So i do agree with the team that they push on trying to get this car working on softer compounds because that is were the qualie lap time will come at the very least.

We need to fix the car first.

I really hope Roberts set up will help but the problem runs much deeper me thinks.

Worth a try tho.

With Roberts skill and setup i think he would be be a good .75 quicker than our current drivers anyway good car or bad.

That's a whole lot of time. That's running in the points time.

Re: BARCELONA Test
GPL 15 May, 2018 11:33
I think for qualie and a short period on new tyres then yes, but he would struggle as the tyres gave up trying to keep the car on track.

His skill could drive round the problems longer/quicker but in the end it would catch him out aswell.

Im wondering if Wurz havent exaggerated a little bit with how much problems there are with the floor and the diffuser. Wouldnt the car be basically undriveable and out of the track in like every other corner? Stroll somehow managed to have a good, smooth race. We wouldve tried another floors earier on in the season if that would be a quick fix.

Because he's not pushing as hard in the race. Aerodynamics is not linear. Hence why he could be spit off in s3 of a quali lap while doing the exact same thing as before.

It also makes sense then in Baku as downforce wasn't the key to a fast lap time there. If this is true and floor stall is the problem, first it's huge. Seocnd it's cureable. Third, the car must be mechanically sound.

I don't know. We were way off a Q3 time in Barcelona.

I think the thing with Robert is the experience he has to get a car to his liking, so he can go quicker. But whether that works for the other guys I have no idea.

Corner entry still seems to be the big issue if I read Paddy correctly. And I don't think they have closed up all the bodywork yet. They probably need some of those split airflow feeds and ducting - it's quite intricate on some of those cars.

Wurz appears very confident they will turn it around for 2019, but a magic bullet for this season is unlikely.

Lets wait for the B SPEC then.

I cannot see us doing anything exciting before then.

The wait goes on and on and on LOL.

Race pace we were only 3 - 4 tenths of other teams circulating in the lower end of the points. I was specifically referencing another post about us gaining .75s

Paddy also notes that the corner entry is bad, but the car performs as intended through other parts of the curve.

There's no magic fix for this car, I think. 0.7s doesn't come with a single set of updates. It comes with a new car. Or am I being pessimistc?
