Saying you are in over your head is never an easy thing to admit. For that I give Paddy top marks on. Whether he has a solution in place moving forward is to be be seen.

This news must come as a bit of a blow to the Kubica fanboys but i'm sure he'll play an instrumental role in helping Paddy, re-design the car.

Please Williams do not announce you are going to concentrate on next years car any time soon but by the same token if this one is a dead duck after operation recovery then send it to the car crusher down at Grove scrap metal depot!!!

Paddy Lowe has admitted that the Williams team has made some serious mistakes as they developed the FW41 for 2018.

Lowe, the team’s chief technical officer, believes that the car is not allowing their drivers to go all out on track.

Lowe said: “The pace is really quite bad. There are some issues with it, which fortunately we understand. There is something that is really disrupting the drivers’ ability to driver the car anywhere near the limit.”

The Brit, who was at Mercedes before making the switch to Williams, says that the team are trying their best to make things better.

He said: “We’re very busy doing a lot of work to fix those issues. None of those fixes are in place unfortunately. We haven’t yet brought anything that solves those.”

There have been personal changes in the team, which are part of a plan to bring Williams back to the fore. Chief designer Ed Wood is out, while Doug McKiernan (formerly McLaren) comes in as chief engineer, and Dirk de Beer (formerly Ferrari) is the new head of aerodynamics.

- i think he is follow how new lotus, marusia n HRT build the car concept.

Since 2006:
3rd in 2014 and 2015
4th in 2007
5th in 2016 and 2017

17 podium finishes
1 win
3 pole positions

And this despite being no factory team, the fact that we have had no huge financial backing like Red Bull during this period of time and nor did we have factory support like Woking has had.

I would say; considering the circumstances we have done well over the past 10 years.

My friend who I've provided some information from in the past was discussing the Spain weekend with me.

He didn't tell much about the car or any new parts we don't already know. He said most people in the Paddock actually believe Williams are on top of the issue and that a fix will be in place but gave no indication of timeframe and didn't want to share with me where he understands that will put them in the field.

He's also part of a group bet on how many times the FW41 will crash in Monaco.... it really is the laughing stock of the Paddock. He said you can expect to see the car in the wall around turn 2 3 and 4. And also running wide frequently braking out of the tunnel. It's going to be a painful weekend.

Interesting article. So, the car has instant aero problems when you turn the steering wheel.

Obviously this explains why Kubica is so much quicker than the other guys, since he can barely turn the steering wheel with one hand.

The floor is stalling causing aero imbalance. Read it today somewhere.

The team know what is wrong. The car has a fundamental aerodynamic flaw - the rear floor suffers an aerodynamic stall on corner entry, making it unpredictable to drive.

New parts to fix the problems are on their way but are not expected until just before the summer break - at the halfway point of the season.

Not all the time. Which makes it even worse.

Honestly. Why don't they hire some expensive aero guru from a top team like Ferrari . . . oh wait . . .

So what’s the mid season betting on the fix working!! ??
My money is on “we are analysing the data” followed by “our focus is on 2019!”
