Mick Schu yet to find his feet in F2. Certainly not a killer debut. But we'll see.
Lots of excuses coming out of KUB at the mo. Not interested. Just get on with it. He's basically saying that RUS has a faster car.

Of course KUB is driving a slower car, Russell confirmed that the cars arent the same and KUB even said that it's very obvious from the telemetry. Russell even said that we watched the onboards and KUB's car was indeed driving worse than his. Why do you imemdiately assume that he is lying LOL. He is saying like it is. Deal with it.

They cant "get on with it" because the team cant have two different cars on the same set-ups and fixing this will be now a priority.

Even if the FW42 is an absolute shitbox the team couldnt even build the same two shitboxes.

We must discover where those 4/100ths of extra performance are coming from and bolt them on to Robert's car!

Well if it's true then I have lost all faith in this team. We are constantly told they have world class facilities at the factory but they can't make 2 identical F1 cars? Bullshit. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of precision engineering.

The only silver lining is that PH is back and I hope he is on good form and kicks the @#$%& out of the place.

What a @#$%& show.

according to motorsport-total.com:
Gearbox case: 4 Manufacturers are competing

For the 2021 F1 season, the gearbox case is to be offered as a unit part. The world automotive association FIA has now received four applications for this. According to my colleague Adam Cooper, the well-known transmission manufacturer Xtrac has submitted documents as well as the Formula 1 teams McLaren and Williams, who also have engineering achievements in their portfolio in parallel to their involvement as racing teams. Howewer, the applications of McLaren and Williams are not been officially confirmed yet. And who is the fourth company is still unclear at this time.

That would imply that carbon cartridge box is done by Williams for the tender purposes at least?!
And would also mean that the least competitive teams solution would be the preffered one as low competitive advantage would apply. Or an X-Trac solution as the specialist provider.

As far as I know the casing choice is left to the teams.

There is just too much pressure on Mick. His test at Ferrari AND Alfa alone is a great example of this. On merit of his performance last year he is being let in at the driver academy of Ferrari. His name opened doors, but he genuinely did a good job last year in the second half of the season and deservedly got his place in the academy. If everything was legit.
That being said, it should not be enough to get all the privileges he is getting. Namely two tests. Shwartzman and Vips are the ones I rate even better as Mick overall over last season. But hey, they don't have a legendary father on which a complete marketing strategy can be run. I wouldn't be surprised if Liberty has urged Ferrari to take these steps. And I wouldn't be surprised if he got some unexplainable advantage during the season like the second half of the season last year. As I said before, I do doubt if his sudden streak was legitimate. Just look it up, the results of post Spa last year.. well.. to say it light; they do raise an eyebrow don't they?

New sponsor Mowi producer of farmed salmon. Formally marine harvest. From Joe Saward

Claire strikes again! It’s April 1st so I’m really not 100% sure. They are spending 35mill launching the brand so let’s hope plenty comes our way and they don’t get off the hook!

The giant Norwegian seafood company Mowi has announced a deal to sponsor the Williams F1 team for the next three years. The company is the leading producer of farmed salmon in the world, with operations in Norway, Scotland, Canada, Ireland and Chile. The firm has around 25 percent of the global salmon market and is involved in production, processing and retail activities. The company recently changed its name from Marine Harvest to Mowi and wants to raise awareness of the new branding and raise awareness of the strength of the European fishing industry, despite competition from a number of big Japanese firms
“Formula 1 is all about luxury goods,” said CEO Eloy d’Amerval-Avril, a Frenchman,”and we believe that it is a great fit with smoked salmon, which is still something which we all associate with special occasions. We want the world to know about our new corporate identity and with half a billion viewers, a large number of them in Asia, Formula 1 is a great way to deliver the message. Williams is a famous team with great potential but its current level of performance means that it provides terrific value for money. We hope that our contribution will help the team develop and become more competitive in the future."

CEO Eloy d’Amerval-Avril. I don't particularly like Joe Saward, but this was clever.

Joe Saward reporting two notes in his notebook with reference to Williams:

"Paddy Lowe - legal action". The word is that the divorce between Williams and said engineer is going to be ugly."

Also:

"Wurz - Williams?"

Alex Wurz seems to have some kind of consultancy role at Williams, I wonder if Joe is hinting about him taking a more formal role?

Isn’t Alex Wurz exactly the kind of driver that we need back at the factory, racking up the miles on the simulator? I remember him always being renowned for his sim work and being able to offer outstanding feedback to the engineers.

Thanks, some interesting comments
“She said that during Williams’ “four good seasons”, including third place finishes in the constructors’ championship in 2014 and 2015, she made the change.

“In order to preserve our results and even make progress, we changed something in the internal structure and it turned out to be a mistake,” she told France’s Auto Hebdo.

“It was my initiative and I admit my guilt.””

So I assume this is getting rid of Pat for Paddy...

Word on the grapevine no serious updates till Spain. Let's hope Bottas and the 2 red cars can hinder Lewis a while longer to keep things interesting because William's sure aren't.

Good morning,

The other bit of good news in the gpnews quote is that Claire now seems to believe that WAE does not contribute to the team or business.

All resources for the F1 team now, not on the FW-EVX, battery factories, supermarket fridges or airline interiors that's got to be good news.

Bye

Ian

I believe they sold a large chunk of the wae business which is why it likely now can't be used as racing fuel
