The Williams press release says Williams Martini Racing announce Nicholas Latifi as ‘A’ reserve driver.

You have to wonder what these guys get out of such a role. Is it really worth zillions?

Sirotkin was a Renault reserve. He drove a current F1 car precisely twice in 1 year. I think it was supposed to be three times, but there was the weather and reliability problems.

Remember Christian Klien, the RBR reject? He hung around at Honda and also did some SIM work at Williams. I looked him up on wiki and he has recently joined the army, having wasted all his formative years.

Are these guys just fake glam groupies?

Isnt Papa Latifi like few times wealthier than Papa Stroll? If so then few millions for keeping his son in touch with F1 is like nothing to him.

If Latifi will get his superlicense next year then he might be in Williams in 2020 which will be a shame because the guy is a league below Stroll & Sirotkin.

Yes, Proper Money. Latifi's mum is a Saputo... which makes the Latifis and the Strolls look middle income.

No idea about the superlicense points system. Does he get any credit for his FP outings?

Edit to add: Just seen that he is doing a 5th season in F2. (Talk about a slow learner.)

I don't think if Kubica performs even near Sirotkin/Stroll then we will have a line up which stays the same for a couple of years like Bottas/Massa.
Russell is on a multiple contract.Kubica has heavy sponsorship behind himself.all he needs to do is to be anything around mediocre driver...this will keep us safe from drivers like Latifi.
