Pre-season testing started on a sour note for Williams. There's a long way to go today of course, but it looks like it will end on a rather sweet one.

The team has added the names of all its factory and trackside staff to the rear wing of its FW42, with a thank you message for their "extraordinary effort". Which is a very nice touch.

It's not the kind of rear-wing update that'll make the car go quicker, of course, but F1's such a ruthless place that small moments like this are very endearing.

I dont know where it was said that FW42 was started early. Unless someone can confirm it, i dont know how they could start early without knowing what went wrong with FW41. I think they spent more than half a season to figure that out. Meanwhile everyone else was focusing on 2019.

Rumors that the car is very bad. It's very unstable during cornering and the team doesn't want the drivers to attack the kerbs almost at all, because there is a risk of potential damage while riding the kerbs too hard.

Hmm.

How do you respond to that but it would explain everything.

Got it wrong again dad.

Of course the car is very bad, you only have to see the laptimes. 1.5 seconds slower than the next slowest car.

Few hours ago... "Apparently the atmopsphere inside the team is much, much better right now"

Ihme, I don't know if this guy is that reliable...he was predicting Perez in Haas, that was his very good source.
That being said, those kerbs are nightmare for everyone except Ferrari. Maybe our suspension is still very much prototype and they just playing this one safe.

This doesn't seem right because on autosport they were saying it was looking stable in the corners. Last few years the press had either Mclaren, Red Bull or Ferrari issues to report in testing but now they're all doing ok it's gone a bit quiet so it's like they are using Williams to fill up column inches. Sadly everyone with a similar budget is a B team so it's not surprising they look quick. We spent most of last season figuring out our mistakes. We were never going to bounce back like Sauber as all they did was get lots of Ferrari tech, we are trying to fix the mess we had with our limited resources.

I fear we might be in the 2011-2012 wilderness till major rule changes and budget restrictions.

Re: 2nd Test. 2019.
Andrew Hooper 01 March, 2019 15:32
Not much happening at the moment Kubica is up to 74 laps but still in his garage with 1.5 hours remaining.

So far only pitsops practice...

Re: 2nd Test. 2019.
Francesc 01 March, 2019 16:01
Pitstop practice. They've taken some parts out of the car for example on the bardgeboards so no more quick laps.

I do wish they would send him out for a couple of qualy runs. That timing screen is pretty embarrassing. I guess there is always Friday practice before the race...

j-s 01 March, 2019 16:25
Sigh. 1 second off the next-worst car. That's incredible.

And doing pitstop practice no. Odd.

Red Flag, T-13, MAG. End of testing.
