He won't return. Who takes on his role? Is there anyone suitable?

To be expected. So typical for Williams' TDs to leave under unclear circumstances in recent years. And with how things were going recently and with all those reports about bad atmosphere within Williams, it was likely to happen sooner than later.

So they sack head of aero and design last year, was that around a similar time and now sack the TD right before the start of the season? Just mad. They either should have sacked Lowe mid season last year or stuck with him at least till mid season. All they have now is instability. With Smedley gone, is there anyone really experienced in the team to take on this role?

But this one isn't just unclear, it's totally opaque.

He hasn't been officially fired. And he hasn't officially quit. 'Leave of absence'. (Sm55)

Face saving on both sides while they negotiate a severance payment?

Anyway, no Smedley or Paddy in Melbourne is my first thought.

This is a very bad development, how could they let go of him just before the start of the season while the car is still "under-developed"? they should have at lease kept Paddy until the middle of the season and use him to continue developing the FW42; while at the same time, line up with someone to replace him.

Now it could be 6 months to one year before they have someone taking up this role (unless they promote from within which I doubt would work).

Is Ross Brawn in any way available to join us? how long is his contract with Liberty. He could be the last person who could rescue the team ...

Maybe he quit, or wanted out. It's as Anderis said, not clear.

But he needs to give sufficient notice (say 6 months) to the team if that's the case, given his very important position.

Well, suggests to me he quit and the 'leave' covers this.

Maybe Lowe will have more time for Paddy

[twitter.com]

Look at the date --> 13.12.2018. Poor FW42

Horrible news. What a mess of a team Claire has made. She should be leaving right now.

The only who's available now is Jorg Zander, who we should be hiring right now. In the meantime Patrick Head could be helping.

And bring back Adam Parr to run the team and Claire move to a comercial role.

This rivals a "Reality TV Show". Isn't Lowe a shareholder too?
