The gap has increased with 18th car, atleast on single lap pace.

Hardly surprising really when all other teams have been through several upgrades. I wonder whether there might have been legal reasons for not touching the car until Paddy had officially departed.
.
Dave Robson has said there is no fundamental flaw . . . as there was with the previous car it simply lacks downforce . . and of course about 5 months of upgrades.

Then again, we have heard several stories since the start of the season. It does appear that we are still short of tunnel technicians.

It's slow of course, but it doesn't look difficult to drive or to behave unpredictably like its predecessor.

Not a bad qualifying time from Russell, seems there is some progress.

Gasly miles behind Max again . . . he was looking better this weekend . . . .

Perez never gives up, does he?

Better from Gasly . . . Albon beginning to dominate Kvyat

Australia: 3,874 (104,8%)

Azerbaijan: 4,567 (104,5%)
Spain: 3,666 (104,9%)
Monaco: 3,311 (104,7%)
Canada: 3,377 (104,8%)
France: 4,470 (105,1%)
Austria: 2,901 (104,6%)
GB: 2,696 (103,2%)

Everyone is closer. Our gap to 18th is still over a second (Russel), which i think is pretty much the same it has been since Aus.

Considering how little development there has been, that's quite interesting.

Could it just be a rookie getting up to speed?

Good info! This shows that there is definitely improvement, although by small steps.

You can get happy with that progress or get disappointed with the gap to Mclarens which is where points are scored.
Over 1.5 sec.You can't even expect from Redbull to bring in a serie of updates to gain that much over competition.
Though things are always easier when you're so far away from perfection.Making gains can be easier.

I was optimistic in FP2 that williams had started to close the gap. It's a shame that GR didn't get much running in because it would of been interesting if he maintained his 0.6sec gap to RK. Given quali, he may of. That said any comparison with the Haas or second Alfa is not relevant if their team mates are miles up the road. Grosjean had a mare of a day. Watching quali from Becketts was interesting, the two williams cars had a noticeable lift and GR confirmed it on stage later. I'd be interested to know if the flo-viz paint yesterday showed the team what they expected.

And for some reason both cars were out at the end of FP1 on intermediate tyres doing a practice start. I think everyone else was on slicks.

Can you rework Williams progress taking into account Hamilton's error at Brooklands?

Because as I read your stats Williams has stayed stagnate at about 104% until the British GP.

I think what Tomazy has posted regarding times.... etc is perfect.... lets not get into the job of posting figures based on what ifs..... fact is Bottas was fastest...

It doesnt change much, if I go by Hamilton best sectors, it would be

GB: 2,784 (103.3%)

Was really hoping that we might see some improvements this weekend. I feel bad for Frank - here to celebrate his 50 years in F1 and his team are plumb last. I’m sure that’s really hard for him.

Re: British GP weekend 2019 (practice, qualifying, &race)
Andrew Hooper 14 July, 2019 08:35
I know that Frank is having a great time regardless of the performance of the cars.

As for the performance of the cars the gap percentage wise maybe coming down but at this pace it will be the end of the season before we see a closing of the gap to simply the cars in front let alone the quickest cars.

Get the feeling that 2019 is definitely a year to make progress with the car getting ready for 2020. As for any points its just not going to happen.

If we gaind 1% with a small update, maybe we will gain 1% with a bigger updates at evety race the next two races. That would give us 101.3% defucite or a lap time of 1:26.199 witch would mean 8th on the grid. Yes yes I know this will not happen sad smiley
