Really nice interviewthumbs down
Maybe this continuing interest to Webber relates to a possible move of Vettel to another team next year?? Or is it just a recognition of Webber's abilities? Just a speculation

I knew Horner had it in him.

My thoughts exactly. Absolutely positively cannot wait for this Sunday!

I should know better but.

I could not help but be absolutely furious with another websites pre season predictions. You would almost have to call it deliberately inflamatory. They absolutely bagged Webber one and all. The most common insult was the belief that Vettel would take the title as the other top teams will have two drivers competing for the title, and the drivers would take points off each other!!. I agree, Horner was clear in that Mark has no excuses this year. Experience aside, it's his WDC to win too.

Your're both right. It is his to win. Vettel still has to prove he can win from anywhere but the front and take a bit of heat without cracking. (He'll make a steller Rubens this year though)

Nice to hear from Horner, but he's always had belief in Webber.
Mark's as fit as he's going to get and surely has a shot at the title smiling smiley

Vettel won't forget coming close last year though, and will have learnt from his mistakes.
I doubt he will be anyone's Rubens.

One thing we do know is that if the car is up there.....Mark will certainly give the title a big crack.....time will tell how both our car and Mark fair against all comers.....I'm feeling quietly confident that if the RB6 is up to it, Mark will take the bull by the horns and "Take" this opportunity.

Mark "Get Out of My Way!" Webber is a big time contender this year.....

Go Mark......The window is open for the first and probably last time in your career.......Take em all to the cleaners mate!

Hurry up Bahrain

Thinking Vettel, will lead the way again like in 2009. Though if Mark is up to the task, he'll show his brilliance again like he did in that Minardi and Jaguar once more. Racecraft is born not learnt.

It's what keeps us believing. He was once called by many the next Schumacher. Not everyone will agree there, and maybe they're right. I've always thought in the right car he'd come into his own. The last thing I wanted was to be handing out excuses ala broken leg and shoulder.
If he gets there, he's sure as hell done it the hard way. If he doesn't, well, it's been great supporting him. I'll do it whatever he does now anyway.

EDIT: useless at quoting I am.

I always Pictured Webber myself as a fluffy white Unicorn..So not a Dark horse..
The Build up is perfect for Webber all the expectations are on Vettle, but Webber has pace and experiance on his side.
Think you will see Some great racing from both of our two.
Who will end up on top? Its a close call just like the other 4 guys in other cars who will be very close each week..
Not long now Chidren!!

on reading the interview i was left wondering what caused the epiphany? i always saw horner[rightly or wrongly] firmly in the vettel side of the garage due to his comments or lack of.

since mark webber had such a stellar season in '09 it appears as though horner/DM et al have somewhat come around to mark webbers side of the garage and have been saying all the right things at the right time. i am a firm believer in the benefit of experience and webber certainly has that in bucketloads.

all that is very well but the cynical side of me says, is it all a bit of a mind game to stir vettel up in the hope that he will up his game even further? does this 'dark horse ' tag put webber in the frame for a great result and if he does not achieve it they will say that the biggest opportunity has slipped from his grasp and use that to ease him either sideways or out.

maybe i am seeing some shadows instead of sunlight but i guess that we will be better able to see the outcome by mid season or even before. either way i am backing webber to the hilt. top man, top car, top job.

you may well be right whitey, as i have alluded to this very fact myself.

however in life nothing is as it seems and people do some very sinister things for all kinds of reasons and to blindly accept the status quo is sometimes courting disaster. it is sometimes called'naivety'. i am sure that mark webber is fully aware of this but for me, as a rank outsider looking in, i do see other possibilities but i do hope that i am wrong.

But if Webber performs very well then there will not be any problems, and to be honest i can't see Webber not performing well, heck he performed pretty well last season and that was coming off a broken shoulder and a badly broken leg!

I think most of the comments about Horner and his support of Webber comes about becasue Last year he wasn't talking up Webber, well at the start of the season Webber could hardly walk .......

Probably directed by the questions as ever, Marks got a couple of wins now, has been talking their chances up, probably getting a few more questions re Mark thrown his way.

Interviews rarely reflect what is actually thought by the interviewee!
I recorded (sneakily) an interview being given by Ross Brawn in the Schumi / Rubens era where a lot of positive comments made about Rubens - the published interview never mentioned him at all!
Horner has always been pro Webber but last year the questions were all about Vettel and I suspect that most comments about Mark were just discarded.

There's every possibility that could turn out to be true....and if happens will still be Happy with the result.....When Mark goes out to pasture will follow Vettels career but until then I hope Mark pulls his pants down and spanks him in 2010[:wor kid:]

of course the latest interview with horner is all about what a 'complete' driver vettel is now and that he is their ace [ my word]

it seems as though horner is making sure of garage parity. a wise choice in the circumstances.

I have no idea. It may be related to to cognate from the the latin cognatus but that would only be a guess. Just on that point I've always felt there was a certain cognateness to you and I K1. But perhaps I'm completely wrong.

Back to your question, why ask me? I may be a cunning linguist but I'm hardly an etymologist!

actually jock i was trying to be flippant with a play on words but it seems to have fallen very very flat, which is par for the course.

maybe the change in your name reflects a certain 'in cognito ess', and that's a bit flat as well.
