Suzuka race thread

Should be an interesting race because the McLaren looks just as fast as the RedBull this weekend, it will be interesting to see if Vettel can hold off Lewis and Jenson.

Yep Ferrari don't seem to be quite there so if Mark can get past quickly our guys might have a great fight with the macca's,can't wait.

Seb, Jens Lewis will be the podium. Mark will have to be content with 4th and will drop further behind the guys he should be well ahead of in the championship.

I wouldn't completely rule out Fernando, Ferrari have generally looked after their tyres pretty well this year and it seems like tyre life is going to be a big issue today.

Button did a fantastic job to day, epic drive.

Mark still can't hook a weekend up, depressing.

I think what he is saying is the team were backing Vettel more than Webber this year and now Vettel has the WDC they can now back Mark a bit more.

that was an interesting race and there certainly was lots of action. good to see JB and FA up there. they are both ace drivers and give it their all.

for a while there i expected webber to pull up a third or even a second but it just didn't happen. his start for a change wasn't too bad.

as usual hamilton drove like an idiot and i was very surprised that he didn't get another penalty for his move on massa. if you watch the clip massa didn't stray from his line and it was hamilton to hit him!!!

even nigel mansell is now stating that hamilton needs to get some treatment. he really is jensens salad boy now and he doesn't like it one bit. button is driving exceptionally well and it shows hamilton up as a man of straw.

A superb job by Seb this year - he rightly joins the elite list of back to back world champions. His defense of his title has been peerless.

Just need the team to sew up the constructors, and get Mark up to second for the prefect year.

K1, you need to sort out this Hamilton fixation mate. If you build it it up too much in your mind, it'll be agony when he next wins the WDC, which may be next year if Mclaren start out fast.

Congratulations Seb. Can we update the one handed one finger salute to two fingers now please? LOL!

Thought Seb should have been instructed to let Mark pass. Seb was racing for one point. Mark has more to race for. It would have also been a nice thank you to him to let him have the podium that he would have take off Seb anyway.

Williams and proud of it.

Don't think Mark would want a gift from Seb, but even if he did, it would have been wrong to deny Seb, and the fans a chance to see the new World Champion up on the podium spraying the champagne in celebration.

i don't have a fixation ozzie. i have a question for you...how do you justify defending the indefensible? if any other driver did the same they would be drummed out unceremoniously, why should hamilton not receive the same? one, maybe two or three indiscretions could, under certain circumstances, be reluctantly accepted. this is the eight race where he has messed up other drivers results.

yes, hamilton may win the WDC next year, then again he may not, but of one thing i am certain. if he continues to drive in the very same fashion next year he will not win the WDC. button is streets ahead of him in all departments.

I'm not defending the guy. I don't think I have done so other than finding some reason. I'm a Button fan and expected Hamilton to beat him. I'm mighty impressed that Jenson has put one over on him. I do keep saying that but you seem to be convinced that I am a Hamilton fan.

My view is that he is one of the all time greats. That's all. I try to see things as they are. He's had a pig of a year and made far too many mistakes and he's been punished for them where appropriate, even where others have gotten away with the exact same crime.

The point I am trying to make is that when the conversation comes around to Webber doing poorly, you seem to immediately jump on Hamilton's latest mistake and tell us endlessly how everyone says he is an idiot etc. etc. It's not relevant. Not sure what you mean by 'Drummed out'. Do you mean he should be banned for the season? Or next season? Get a grip man.

When are you going to admit that Webber has simply been out-driven this year by a better driver and that effectively he is now number 2 in the Red Bull team?

hahaha what a joke ozzie. do you really believe that hamilton is one of the 'all time greats'? you are as misguided as hamilton if you believe that.

i have said on quite a few occasions that he is a fast and talented driver. that said, he is seriously flawed and needs to be given a severe warning to cease and desist. how many other drivers races do you expect to be ruined before this happens?

as for me defending webber, of course i do. am i biased? yes of course i am. can webber do wrong? of course not. is he the best driver on the grid? not quite, but on the day he is as good as any of the others. is he no.2 in the red bull team? probably but not by his own admission. you are no doubt aware that marko/horner have stated that the team is built around vettel. that says it all i think.

all that aside i think we should bury this topic now as there is no way i will accept hamilton as 'one of the greats'. button is the maclaren man. no BS and a nice guy into the bargain. he is a far better driver that hamilton will ever be.....IMO.

Seems Vettel suffered from the same mirror problem at the start. However, JB managed to get out of the way and go on to win the race. As usual, in the same situation, Massa sat there like a dipstick and had his wing taken off.

Takes 2 to tango. As it is, I agree K1, we'll accept that you are fundamentally wrong and move on to another topic. I'm happy with that.

Papa Smurf, your forum drama reminds me of why Mark is lacking respect. Though to my eyes despite Mark's short comings I think we as non antipodeans should consider him a World Class driver.

Papa Smurf drama aside, F1 after all only attracts the best of the best. Though I must admit Vettel in fact is a back to back WDC, Mark... could have been ... but none the less an antipodean's champion!
