FIA tells McLaren to scrap Bahrain-spec diffuser
[www.motorsport.com]

Don't know how true it it, I would have thought it would have had more press coverage if it was.

Does anyone know?

Re: FIA tells McLaren to scrap Bahrain-spec diffuser
Hmm..........as you say, no mention anywhere else that I can see.

On the face of it, it seems ludicrous that the FIA should be so woolly minded as to say "you can use it this weekend but not in future". After all, it's either legal or it's not. If it's a grey area, then make a decision now, for pete's sake! There seems to be a nightmarish potential for protests and the overturning of results!

My reading of the original article, aided by the MS translator - not that MS! The Microsoft one - suggests that three other teams are also exploiting the same trick so it seems a little invidious to name only McLaren, but hey.........we're used to it!

Didn't Ferrari have a similar situation a while back with the illegal floor? They raced it for 3 races and it was outlawed before they were forced to stop using it.

]FIA have told other teams to change their diffusers also. Looks like there is a shake up coming in Australia.

After all the controversy last year over double diffusers, why weren't they banned? After it was basically proven to be detrimental to overtaking?
