Sauber's advantage & strength: the tyres
It seems the C29 is the best car on the field at managing the tyres, which is especially vital this year smiling smiley Check:

Interesting quotes from this article and other places:

The performance of Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi in testing has prompted Bridgestone to suggest that Sauber could be one of the only teams to get away with using the softer tyre in Q3 on a Saturday, without compromising its first stint of the race.
---
Rampf almost breathes a sigh of relief when he explains that every development that has been put on the car since testing started has added performance, thereby justifying the initial expense in getting new parts ready in such a hurry.
---
were able to bring new parts from the windtunnel and tune the car accordingly," he adds. "We have developed well with a combination of aero parts and mechanical setup. We did not bring five things and have to scrap four of them, the correlation with the windtunnel has been very good."
---
He's also been very impressed with de la Rosa, who got the nod to be the team's experienced hand over Nick Heidfeld.

"Pedro is very precise, very good and very consistent," he says. "He can do the same performance any time. He filters out tyre performance, so he knows when he's losing time because of tyre wear and not aero performance. He’s very good to work with."

Re: Sauber's advantage & strength: the tyres
Thanks for this J-Raid. It's nice to hear consistent positive remarks about the C29. It appears the team has learned the correct lessons from the F1.09. Also, The new interview with Koba is a good read as well. Both the drivers are growing on me, and I think the team has two solid drivers for 2010: The stable calm experience of Pedro, the young passion of Koba, and it sounds like the two are already getting along very well.

I am really looking forward to the season. I think in the first half of the season the team should be reasonably competitive. I only hope the season dosen't totally implode due to lack of money/sponsorship later on. I'm still worried about no major announcements about sponsoship yet, but then again if the situation was critical there would have at least been some rumours floating around about money problems.

So nothing has changed then. The Saubers have always been easier on tyres, especially during thge BMW years.

It's the regs that have changed and things have swung in our favour. Not to mention that the car is fast out of the box.

Re: Sauber's advantage & strength: the tyres
Found something interesting. When a journalist close to Pedro asked him about the Bridgestone statement, Pedro was shocked and replied:

"Crap, if others have more tyre wear than us, well, they should be screwed up, cause we aren't exactly very tyre savers"

Aka, Sauber does have high tyre wear (compared to laswt year's reference??), but it seems the others have even higher!
Is it really expected to see just 1-stop races???

Let's hope all this tyre talk will indeed be kind to Sauber. A podium would start the season off just right.

After all that 'old' Sauber team had to go through to get their place in 2010 they always deserved I really hope they will show their rear wing to many teams
