BBC F1 co-commentator David Coulthard has backed up the claim by Lewis Hamilton's father Anthony, that the McLaren driver needs someone to fight his corner and be there for him when times are tough.

Hamilton was in India on Tuesday to perform a demonstration run ahead of the Indian Grand Prix on 30 October. Nearly 10,000 fans braved the hot, humid conditions to watch the 2008 world champion drive his title-winning MP4-23 McLaren car on the outskirts of Bangalore.

Red Bull Racing's owners made a £2.8m pre-tax profit in 2010 from winning the Formula 1 championship and diversifying its racing operations, according to team boss Christian Horner. Sebastian Vettel's victory last year boosted the team's prize money to about £56m and drove an increase in sponsorship income as Pepe Jeans, electronics firm LG and forex broker FXDD joined its roster.

Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi has admitted that 2011 has been a "mixed" season with "ups and downs". The Japanese driver began the season strongly, scoring points in six of the first seven races. However, since the British Grand Prix in July, he has scored just two points.

McLaren's Jenson Button, who kept the title race alive by taking second in the Singapore Grand Prix, is heading straight back to work just hours after returning home. "Arrived back 2 the UK in the wee hrs of the morning, after a couple hrs of shut eye I'm on the way 2 the MTC [McLaren Technology Centre] for some simulator work. Tired!"

Team Lotus driver Heikki Kovalainen has had more bad luck with his luggage. An airline lost his bags on the way out to Singapore and has now done the same on his return. "Arrived home, guess what - BA lost luggage again! Now the luggage coming back but golf bag still missing, luckily I'm not a pro golfer..."
