Jacques said he quit...and at the time I believed it. I stopped believing it watching the Q's of the following GP's...the car was a bit of a dog, but this guy managed to bring it up a bit...how would you say...fight above his weight.

Hey Sauber Motorsport fans!

It's been a fewish days since my last story...mostly because I wanted to see how Kubica's recovery was going to work out.

As we all know, Robert replaced Jacques after the Canadian GP in 2006...much to my, and just about every other Jacques fans displeasure. Just a friggen rookie, only driving on Fridays.

A Full on World Champion...and this other tall lanky kid who may or may not make pole.

Jacques said he quit...and at the time I believed it. I stopped believing it watching the Q's of the following GP's...the car was a bit of a dog, but this guy managed to bring it up a bit...how would you say...fight above his weight.

I don't know the whole story about JV's leaving, however I can say that at the time, Mario Thiesson made a great choice in Kubica.

The guy was a racer! Finally, a real fucking racer...along the lines of a Juan Manuel Fangio, or a Colin Chapman, or even a (I know you all don't want me to say this)...Tony Stewart or Robbie Gordon.

Real racer's will drive whatever they can get their hands on...open wheel or tin tops, on a rally course or the Dakar Rally or the Baha, midgets on dirt tracks or what have you. This is what race car driver's do.

Robert is a race car driver through and through...let there be no doubt. And he's good at it. His race craft is top notch...I will not be surprised when he does become World Champion.

I do however, take a different view to those pundits who believe that Renault should have reigned him in, and not let him race in Rally cars...seeing as the start of the F1 season is upon us.

I believe this would have been like a punishment for Robert, not letting him get out there and race. Remember, these pundits are of a different era...almost prima donna like in their handling, and what they could do and say while they were F1 drivers.

I think it's time they shut their cake holes...and understand that they were not the 'racer's' they believed they were.

Robert is a real racer...doesn't matter if it's F1 or Rally Car.

God speed in your recovery Robert.
