Petter Solberg wins the Swedish Rally

Flying high in Swede

Petter Solberg won the 2005 Swedish Rally.

Solberg ,who suffered disappointment in Monte Carlo after highting a rock and retiring, bounced back to beat Marko Martin by 2mins 11.1secs.

Going into the final day Solberg was in a lead swapping battle with Martin's Peugot team-mate Marcus Gronholm, but on stage 16 Gronholm crashed out leaving the Norwegian with a comfortable cushion for the final few stages.

Monte Carlo winner, Sebastian Loeb, retired on SS19 after persistant engine problems from the end of Leg 2.

Toni Gardemeister finished thrid for Ford. This put him on top of the WRC Drivers Championship and Ford on top in the Constructors Standings.

Harri Rovenpera and Gigi Galla finished forth and seventh respectively for another double points score. This comes after Giles Panizzi's third in Monaco.
