Mercedes GP is one of the first teams to have confirmed it's driver line up for the coming years.

This week various F1 news websites started spreading headlines that Michael Schumacher had extended his contract till 2013. Ross Brawn was quoted saying "There is no reason Michael should not continue". Ross continues to say that "Michael is still very sharp and has not lost his edge on the track."

However later Michael denied the claims reported and explained that he is in no hurry to extend his contract with Mercedes. His current three year deal expires at the end of 2012. "I need a bit more time to see" he said, "It is sort of about myself and how we are heading plus some input to see if this is what I want or not"

Rosberg on the other hand has confirmed that a multi-year deal has been signed with MGP and this put an end to the gossip linking him to Ferrari as a replacement for the struggling Felipe Massa. The deal is set to net the young driver a total of $68M making him the highest paid driver still to win a race.

Team boss Ross Brawn said he has every confidence that Rosberg has the ability to eventually win races and titles for the team in the coming years. Nico has performed exceptionally well with MGP during the past two seasons, driving the current car to it's limit and gathering the maximum points manageable with the team's current limits.

Rosberg together with Michael complete the team and help push the team to progress and improve constantly. Once the team reaches a level of stability it can then focus on meeting the performance levels to equal and eventually beat the competition and become a winning team with the likes of RedBull, Ferrari and McLaren.
