Michael is convinced the lack of testing has hampered his chances of making a larger impact upon his return to Formula One. He is entering his third year comeback attempt with Mercedes GP, but still remains without a podium finish, never mind a Grand Prix win.
The seven time World Champion has failed to return as he exited F1. He feels his slow show of results is directly due to the lack of in-season testing. Schumacher expected he would have more podiums by this time. “In the past we did a lot of testing.” “Today not, so I have some problems with tires. I have not learned how to interpret them correctly”. “In Formula One there are no magic wands.” “Some have questioned whether my mood has changed.” “It would be nice if outsiders didn’t make guesses without knowing.”
The other side of the coin is he has as much and as little as everyone else, but he has 17 odd seasons worth of experience, and should actually be better equipped than anyone else bar Rubens. Is he proving that either he is becoming too old, or he isn’t as good as he was made out to be ? Could it be a little of both ?
