“As things stand at the moment,” said Cosworth Racing chief executive Brendan Connor, “We are not expecting to go (to Indianapolis) to support Arrows. By tomorrow (Tuesday) it becomes a logistical impossibility anyway.”
Cosworth are believed to have joined the list of creditors putting forward a winding up order, which is due to be heard in the High Court in London during early October. The team’s engine supplier has sent a number of staff with their engines to each Grand Prix this season, and are said to be owed around $2.7m (£1.74m) by the team.
In addition, several media outlets have reported that Arrows equipment cases were not aboard the Formula One Management flight - bound for America - which took off from the UK at the weekend.
An anonymous source within the team has spoken to the BBC on the situation, and apparently said that, “Indy is a no-no. I don’t think Japan is a proposition either.”
This site understood, at the beginning of the week, that Indianapolis was probably not going to happen for the team, however there is a whisper of hope that Japan might. This site cannot go into specifics, but it appears that speculation in the media, saying that a deal to save the team has floundered, is untrue and that the negotiations are still proceeding.
With the Arrows press office closed at the moment, an official statement from the team on the United States Grand Prix is not expected.
More when we get it.
