Arrows website off the air; Minardi targeted

Web focussed in '99
By Huw Alban December 12 2002
Lost Boys, Arrows sponsor for three years, and provider of the team’s bold moves to become more web based, have admitted that they are now interested in furthering their links with F1 by becoming involved in team sponsorship at Minardi.
The Dutch Internet business group, through a spokesman, explained the situation. "We are talking with KL Minardi, but the deal is not done yet. I cannot say anything else at this moment because the deal isn't completed. However, the negotiations are faring well and we will announce more shortly. We aren't in talks with a driver, but that doesn't mean we don't want to see Dutch input in the team." The Arrows.com website, constructed and hosted by Lost Boys, went off the air a few weeks ago.

In connected Dutch (and Arrows related) news, Holland Media Group (HMG), which amongst others operates the RTL5 TV channel that covers F1 for the Dutch audience, has admitted that it is in talks with ex-Arrows driver Jos Verstappen.

The hugely popular Dutchman was hotly tipped for a drive with Minardi, but more recently Christijan Albers has risen to the top as the media's favourite for the seat.

A HMG spokesman said to the press, "It is true we are negotiating with Jos Verstappen. We are only talking to Verstappen not to Christijan Albers or KL Minardi. Unfortunately, I cannot reveal more at this moment, but we will make an announcement as soon as we know more. I cannot say anything about the financial worth of the deal we are negotiating, so this is still unknown. There's no deal yet, nothing has been signed; we are just talking."
