Williams commences four day Barcelona Test

  Barcelona Test 14:04:2008 Day One

The AT&T Williams team would commence their four day test at Spain's Circuit de Catalunya. Conducting the test on the first day was Kazuki Nakajima with the focus been on the development of the FW30 and further preparations for the 2009 season including testing slick tyres.

NakajimaThe team would also test various aerodynamic updates, the most noticeable been a new front wing with a shape similar to that been currently used by Renault. The lowest segment of the wing is now far more squarer than the previous design.

There were a total of four red flags during the days testing. One of these was caused by Kazuki going off track at Turn three late in the session. He would finish the day with the seventh fastest time, 1m:22.431, having completed seventy two laps.

Williams Technical Director Sam Michael commented: “Today we started a four day test in Barcelona with Kazuki Nakajima driving the FW30. The morning was spent working on the 2009 tyre programme with Bridgestone, then the rest of the session was devoted to suspension work in preparation for the Spanish Grand Prix next week.”
