Rosberg in top ten after final Hungarian Practice

Nico Rosberg
By Andrew Hooper August 2 2008
AT&T Williams driver Nico Rosberg would finish in the top ten after the final Hungarian Grand Prix practice session. Team-mate Kazuki Nakajima was down in twelfth in what was an uneventful session. Qualifying will be a difficult time for the Williams team given their lack of pace in the leadup. Will they be able to make it into Q3? Fastest in the session was hamilton.

Kazuki was now in tenth as Kubica moved into fourth with a 1m:21.9765. Glock was now seventh and Heidfeld eighth. Vettel was in an encouraging fifth, given his problems of Friday. Nico's first lap would see him in eighth, 1m:22.152. This would become eighth as Bourdais moved ahead of him, 1m:22.120. The Renault's, both of whom were in the pits, were at the bottom of the times. Glock would be the first to come back out with twenty two minutes left in the session. Alonso was able to improve and moved up to eleventh, 1m:21.996. Piquet was able to do the same but he would improve to be fourth, 1m:21.729. This would become fifth as Nico put in a quick lap that would see him in second, 1m:21.652. Kazuki was back out on the track.

Piquet would move ahead of Nico with a 1m:21.476 as Nico pitted. With ten minutes remaining most of the drivers were in the pits getting ready for their final practice qualifying runs. The first to improve would be Glock who was now third. He would improve to be fastest but Hamilton would move ahead of him with a 1m:20.228. Massa was now second with a 1m:20.567 as Kovalainen moved into fourth, 1m:20.567. Heidfeld would move up to sixth, 1m:21.096. Kazuki would move into the top ten but Nico would push him down one spot while he took ten, 1m:21.195. Alonso would split the Williams pair moving into eleventh. So with the end of the final practice Nico and Kazuki were in tenth and twelfth.

At the front the order was Hamilton followed by Massa, Glock, Kovalainen, Piquet, Heidfeld, Bourdais, Vettel, Raikkonen, and in tenth Nico. based on the pace up to this point it would be surprising to see the Williams drivers move past Q2 in qualifying.
