The Caves Edinburgh
The world’s biggest rugby festival will be held for the first time in Scotland in 2008
Up to 3000 visitors are expected to take part in the 17th Air New Zealand Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival to be staged in Edinburgh on 1 to 8 September 2008. As part of the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival on Friday 5th September,
The Caves is hosting the show stopping Welcome party for South Africa’s legendary Golden Oldies rugby team on Friday 5th September.

The Caves is a very exciting, truly unique and atmospheric venue situated deep in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, owned by ex Scottish rugby international, Norrie Rowan. This unique venue makes up the sub-structure of the 18th Century South Bridge, there is no venue more Edinburgh than the Caves. Or more Scottish than Scottish if you consider there was once so much Whisky stored here that it became known as “Whisky Row”. Every room has a story to tell and a special place in Scottish history -from vaults that served as the stables to the French Cavalry who were at one time body guards to the Royal Family, to remains of the houses that pre-date the Bridge itself. This amazing and fantastically unique venue is sure to wow!
As part of the evening guests will enjoy a Medieval Hog Roast which includes a medieval style buffet fit for Kings. A fabulous visual talking point making it undoubtedly a talking point with a difference, Whole Prime Roast Scottish Porker (Pig on a Spit) served with 5 salads, crusty bread and butter, potatoes, vegetables, and chutney or apple sauce.
Guests will also enjoy jigging along to great home grown Scottish entertainment.
Come along and enjoy the usual Fun, Friendship and Fraternity a rugby festival brings with it.
