 Rosberg excited about 2009 car

For AT&T Williams driver Nico Rosberg the 2008 Formula One season is now at a close but work has only just begun in regard to the teams preparations for the 2009 season. The Williams team, like many others, will return to testing at the Circuit de Catalunya this week testing new components for the 2009 mode, Williams car. This is something that Nico is excited about.

RosbergNico said: “There’s a lot of work to be done between now and Melbourne, both at the factory and on the test track, and I’m very excited about next year’s car. The new rules are going to present quite a challenge for all the teams and drivers, but I think they will make next year a very exciting season.”

The rule changes fro the 2009 season will see the cars run with new aerodynamics and a return to slick tyres. This return to slick tyres is something that Nico is looking forward to.

Nico added: “I’m looking forward to racing on slick tyres again. I grew up using them in karting, Formula BMW and Formula 3 and they are much more forgiving than grooved tyres because there’s a larger contact patch. Roll on the first test!"

But in recent comments to the media Nico has also made it very clear that 2009 will be a make or break year for his relationship with the Williams team.

When questioned by Formule 1 Race Report about his options for 2010 Nico said: "By the middle of the coming season. If Williams are still not there, then I will have to think about somewhere else. I have to think of my own career. There are other options for me, but if I wait for too long, those doors obviously close,"
