For AT&T Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima he is aiming for an improved performance in 2009, even with the possibility of a podium finish. After a difficult 2008 season that saw him only pickup a handful of points Kazuki is confident that he can improve in 2009. This is despite the major changes in the cars with the new aerodynamic regulations and the return of slick tyres.

For rookie AT&T Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima his first full year of driving for the team would see him score a handful of points in what was a difficult season. But Kazuki would come away feeling satisfied with his season in the way that he developed over the season.

NakajimaIn an interview for attwilliams.com Kazuki spoke of his first season by saying: "I think it was a good first year, although it wasn’t perfect, obviously. It wasn’t easy when the car didn’t suit the track, but I do feel that I’ve developed myself throughout the year, which is a really important thing to do in your rookie year.

Kazuki added: "I think my best race was probably Singapore. It was a great event, the atmosphere was amazing and the team got another podium with Nico and I scored a point after quite a difficult race. My worst race was probably Bahrain when my anti-stall didn’t kick in at the start. That pushed me to the back of the field, and then I had a spin so I pretty much spent the race fighting my way up from last.

Kazuki would be returning to testing for the Williams team after a short break and it will be his first time using the interim FW30 with slick tyres and the new 2009 wings.

Kazuki was asked as to how he would see things go behind the wheel of this car. Kazuki said" I’m sure it will feel very different to this year’s car. From my experience of the last test with the FW30B, the tests in Jerez could be quite difficult as the car is not balanced properly because it is a hybrid version. I’m sure though that it will be much better when we get the new car next year.

As for his views on the new cars and the return to slick tyres Kazuki added: "Firstly, they haven’t made the cars look very attractive but, if the new regulations encourage more overtaking, I think it’s worth it. Yes I am. I think the cars will be more fun to drive (with slick tyres).

As for his goals on 2009 Kazuki would focus on improving his results with a possible podium. Kazuki added: "To get better results than I did this year and to maybe get a podium. That would be really great."
