The AT&T Williams team’s 2009 season race car, the Williams Toyota FW31, took to the track at the Algarve circuit in Portugal this morning for a shakedown prior to starting its winter testing in earnest tomorrow.

The team’s test driver, Nico Hulkenberg, is taking on the responsibility of shaking down the new race car before regular race driver, Nico Rosberg and his team-mate, Kazuki Nakajima, have the opportunity.

The car was displayed in its test livery with Philips logo's taking a dominate positioning on the car. RBS sponsorship was still to be seen on the car despite the upheaval in the banking sector. Randstad logo's have taken the place of the Reuters logo's on the cockpit sides. The Reuters logos have moved to the front of the car.

Interesting front wing, it seems they've done alot of work on it, lovely nose cone, I would like to see a side view of the car how the sidepods end and how are the exhausts

I agree, also looking forward to top down view to see the packaging around the rear.

Looks good IMO, I like it!

The nose is very Macca MP4-20's or previous Ferrari's. Lots of weight to the front seems.

SOmething weird is the shape of the sidepods in the part where in the past were the chimeneys and T-wings. Bit bulbous and not so flowing as lets say the F60. But better pics of that area are needed to really judge

Generally speaking I'm impressed, as has already been said need better close up's to really look at the rear of the car,T wings exhausts Kers etc but I'm sure they'll come in time. Overall good effort from the guys at Grove, I hope itgoes as well as it looks.

I wonder whos fuel and lube that we are using today, there's nothing on the test livery to indicate the supplier now that petrobras has gone

Must be DENSO, the one that Toyota uses

too little detail to be in any way instructive at this stage although it does look like a sleek piece of work.

Lets see how she handles then.
But yet again a differant philosophy in design, good to see.

Some teams have gone high at the front we are one of the teams that have gone low.

Will wait for Nico,s opinion of the new car if you don,t mind.

If looks could tell us anything, and they don't, I'd say we have a very fast car. Sexy, sleek, and it has a couple of unique elements we haven't seen in the others (nose cone, the bulges where the chimneys used to be, and a very compact and tight rear end).

I suppose the KERS we are using has something to do with the design. Notice also how our car will probably be the only one without the "high voltage" yellow triangle warning thingie. Good, since it'd probably mess up our color scheme.

Bravo Williams, FW31 passed the aesthetics test, as usual. Now for what really matters...
