to lose Martini sponsorship |

The Williams
Martini team has had the sponsorship of Martini for several years but it is
now reported that this relationship will come to an end at the end of the
2018 Formula One season. The famous white, blue and red colour scheme will
not longer be seen in Formula One.
The Williams
team had been looking at a continuation of the sponsorship but reports have
stated that a decision has been made to end sponsorship in Formula One
entirely.
In an interview
with Autosport deputy team principal Claire Williams said: "We have discussed extending beyond 2018.
"While we would both like to do so, the Bacardi Group have told us that they
will step away entirely from Formula 1 when our contract expires at the end
of this year.
"They have many brands to support and obviously their strategic priorities
evolve over time."
As for where this will leave the Williams team they still have a group of
sponsors as well as having received a significant financial injection from SMP Racing as part of the
deal to run Sergey Sirotkin, as well as the funding in running Lance Stroll, who
is backed by his billionaire father Lawrence.
She added a "strong partner community is central to our operation" but "I
wouldn't assume that we would prioritise title partnership above anything
else". |
