The second Friday practice session for the 2018 Austrian GP would see the Williams Martini team again finish in 16th and 20th. Sergey Sirotkin would return for this session. But this session would see a reversal of the drivers positions with Sergey Sirotkin finishing ahead of team-mate Lance Stroll. Both drivers would start their sessions on the ultrasoft tyre prior to running longer runs on both the supersoft and soft tyres with the team splitting the tyre evaluations.

Team Summary:
The second Friday practice session would see the Williams drivers in 17th and 20th positions after their first run splitting the runs on the soft and supersoft tyres. At the front it was Hamilton with a 1m:04.579 using the soft tyre. Bottas was second on the supersoft tyre followed by Vettel, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Raikkonen, Gasly, Vandoorne, Leclerc and Magnussen tenth. Grosjean would move up to ninth but this would become tenth as Magnussen went seventh. Vettel was back out running on the ultrasoft tyre. He would be joined by Ricciardo on the same tyre. Despite improvements neither Vettel or Ricciardo would improve places. The session would be red flagged as a result of Gasly going over the kerbs and breaking his front left suspension and seeing him leave the track at the final corner.

With the restart of the session the majority of drivers would return running on the ultrasoft tyre. With thirty minutes remaining the drivers would move onto longer runs. With twenty one minutes remaining the Williams drivers were in 16th and 20th. With just over ten minutes remaining drivers would start to switch to other tyres with Hamilton and Vettel both switching to used soft tyres. Several of the teams including Williams had split their tyre evaluations between the soft and supersoft tyres. The session would come to an end with Hamilton still fastest followed by Bottas and Vettel. Ricciardo was now fourth followed by Verstappen, Raikkonen, Grosjean, Magnussen, Gasly, and Vandoorne in tenth. For the Williams team they would remain in 16th and 20th with the drivers swapping positions from the first session. The drivers would be allowed to complete practice starts on the grid.

Lance Stroll:
Lance would run on the soft tyre and would finish his first run of ten laps with a time of 1m:06.725 to be 17th. Lance's second run would see him move to the ultrasoft tyre. Prior to pitting for the red flag Lance was not able to improve even on the softer tyre. As others went quicker Lance would fall down to be slowest in a reversal with his team-mate. Lance3 would set a 1m:06.626 but remained slowest. Lance would pit after a thirteen lap run on the ultrasoft tyre. Lance would finally return to the track also on used ultrasoft tyres. Like his team-mate Lance would be setting times in the low 1m:10s. Lance would also pit returning on used soft tyres. Lance would pit with the end of the session having completed twelve laps on the soft tyre.

Sergey Sirotkin:
Sergey would return to his car for the second Friday practice and would finish his first run with a 1m:07.698 to unfortunately be slowest. He would complete ten laps on the supersoft tyre. Sergey would return for a further run with an hour and five minutes remaining. Sergey would continue to run on the used supersoft tyres. Sergey had been able to improve with a 1m:07.019 but remained slowest. Sergey would come out for another run this time on the ultrasoft tyre. Sergey would set a 1m:06.326 to move up to 16th. He would pit after a seven lap run. He would return to the track with under thirty minutes remaining, still running on used ultrasoft tyres. He would be running in the low 1m:10s as he worked through this longer run. Sergey's times would drop into the high 1m:09s. Sergey would pit having completed 19 laps on this set of ultrasoft tyres. He would return on a set of used supersoft tyres and with the end of the session had completed thirteen laps on this tyre.
