| Ralf to sign with Toyota | |
| According
to reports in the British press, in particular The Sun newspaper, BMW
WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher is preparing to sign with the Toyota
Formula One team. The contract is for a basic salary of £12m and an additional £4m in performances bonuses. Ralf's current contract with the WilliamsF1 team finishes at the end of the 2004 season. Even though Ralf has expressed his desire to stay with the WilliamsF1 team there has yet to be any announcement as to Ralf staying with the team. '"It looks odds-on that Ralf will be at Toyota next season because there is no way Williams will try and match the offer," said a source close to Schumacher. "Ralf is 28 and feels this could be his only chance of joining a team which he can help transform just like Michael has done. He has watched the adulation Michael has earned by making Ferrari great and he would like to see if he can do the same with Toyota." Whether these reports have any substance is yet to be seen. It could simply be another tactic in order to pressure Frank Williams into resigning Ralf. |
