Pub Landlord, Mark Webber
By Ian Lockwood July 5 2007
Not wanting to be outdone by team mate David Coulthard who is co-owner of the Columbus Hotel in Monaco, Mark Webber has become a budding Restauranter, at "Il Maschio" at "The Stag Inn". Mark took some time off preparations for the British Grand Prix to ensure his skills were up to par.

stag6

A quick pre-dinner cocktail may be in order - maybe a  "Rocktail" - Red Bull, strawberry puree, passion fruit, vodka, limes and crushed ice. For the less exotic, Mark demonstrates his Red Bull and Orange Juice Special.

stag5

Not that they are short staffed, but straight from serving you at the bar, Mark will take your order and dash off to the kitchen to prepare your meal.

stag2

From Commis Chef to Head Chef

stag3

Eager to help, Mark will even eat your meal for you!

stag4

I can't guarantee that Mark will always be on hand (in fact its highly unlikley) but if you're tempted and want to check out his restaurant then you'll find it in the picturesque village of Mentmore. "Il Maschio" forms part of The Stag Inn - a well known and popular country pub for all the family.

You could try the Pizza "Mark Webber" - Mozzarella cheese, tomato, pepperoni, san Daniele ham, basil and garlic. Alternatively, try the dish inspired by Marks partner Ann Neal - the Insalata D'Anna, which combines a ripe pear, and rocket tossed in oil!

Mentmore is a short 10-15 minute drive from Leighton Buzzard, Aylesbury, and Dunstable, and is less than 30 minutes away from Milton Keynes, Luton and Hemel Hempstead. The village is surrounded by many main access roads including the A5, A41, A505 and the A418.

stag1

According to the website www.ilmaschio.com

"At Il Maschio we are passionate about Mediterranean cuisine and have reinvented the pizza and pasta experience for individuals, families and take out customers in the area by offering high quality, innovative Mediterranean food.

Lol - Duffer its not an ad - I put the story up 'cos I thought people would be interested in what else our drivers get up to outside of F1.

That said, Mark / Ann, if you're reading I would be happy to have a free meal in return for this "Advertorial" - Similarly to DC - if ever the Columbus needs a bit of publicity, I would be happy to run a review on what its like to stay there during the GP weekend!

Actually, I thought it quite interesting to know what the lad's are up-to when they don't have a steering-wheel in their hand's. How would this thread be confused as an advertisement ? Although I am a DC guy, it's nice to see Mark enjoying a life away from his RB3, making money and having fun doing it. Sure can't see any problem here ! Speaking of life's.....................................

Dear Duffer, you appear to have quite an issue when it come's to posting on thread's that do not interest you. What's-up with that mate ? Most of us that have posted on this thread, have found it of interest, myself included. Having just alittle insight on what our driver's are up to when their not in their car's is quite worthy to those interested, somewhat making you the odd-man-out. You, being an Aussie, make's it all the more a puzzle. I only wish there were more topic's of the guy's life's away from the paddock, without infringing on their personal life's. "Pull you head in fella".....Good advice mate.

Why so negative all the time Duffer ?

I imagine 90% of Us would be interested in the off track lives Our Drivers have.
Are You happy to simply read the robotic press releases that don't really give any insight ?
I for one really like the fact that Mark has invested in a Pub..........It's every Aussies Dream I would have thought !

It also goes a long way to explaining a little about Mark's taste when it's obviously a very nice establishment.

I honestly can't remember the last time You said something positive around here ? ? ?

It's almost like You have some deeply hidden hatred for RBR.

Come on Mate.........give it a rest !

Guys, the pub story is smewhat interesting, but the menu, open times, and directions reek of PROMOTION. Promotion is worming its way into our lives so stealthily that most of you have no idea when you see it. I hate the fact fact that nothing is done in good faith any more unless someone can make a buck.

It is my opinion that this type of tripe is not good. I'll stick to it. I'll also reserve the right to express this opinion without stooges having a go at me. Andy, read my posts, didagree with them, even say so. But don't tell me (quite hypocritically) what not to post.

I thought a forum was about discussion and debate?

Duffer is expressing a point of view, I dont entirely agree with his views but I can see his drift on it. Its a typical PR puff piece. But at the same time I find it curious.

Andy your getting a little antsy of late, you need to chill a touch mate and ease back - life's not black n white. We also dont need a third Mod causing tension. Perhaps you are in need a g/f to relieve your frustrations winking smiley

Re: Pub Landlord, Mark Webber

It was just a story giving an insight into what Mark is doing outside of F1, hardly controversial.
Fair enough, you may not agree with it, but surely you can accept the fact that others may be interested in reading it.
Growler has put up a story, and your response was to say 'If it was up to you, you'd get it off'.

Perhaps instead of Negativity try Neutrality.
Not trying to tell you how to post, just suggesting that we all have varied opinions that may need to be accommodated.

Hrm, this thread is lacking a bit of flash and pizzaz don't you think?

Clearly, this purchase shows how much better DC is than Webber as a driver and a person, and that Mark is making investments on the assumption that his income from F1 will soon dry up having abandoned the TEAM, he'll be replaced by Coulthards blue pen, which always believes it is the best pen and even though it's not, will tell everyone it is writing better than those astronaut pens, it just doesn't have the paper to show it.

Explain without looking like a simpleton.

I gave an opinion, he explained his action. No drama at all. All you clowns have to jump all over it. It is quite humorous.

Junior - not everyone owes you an explaination when you ask for one.

By the way Wikipedia states - "Duffer" is also an English word meaning "an incompetent or clumsy person".

..need anyone say more?
