This is not however another bizzarre twist in last years F1 spying saga, but a fully above board occasion. David Coulthard won the trip, which included lunch in a private McLAren dining room by outbidding other guests at a charity auction.
Christian Horner must have felt a little like the odd one out, having not worked for the team. Both Coulthard and Brundle spent time as drivers for the team, whilst Adrian Newey designed cars are responsible for much of McLarens success.
Martin Whitmarsh commented "David has always been a popular driver at McLaren and we've known him for a long time. In fact, he's driven more grands prix for McLaren than any other driver in Formula 1 history. It's fantastic that he has put his hand in his own pocket to support this charity auction and it's great to see him back at Woking. This afternoon showed that we still remain friends with many of our former drivers - because Martin, of course, is an ex-McLaren driver too."

What a great prank! I bet that McLaren were going around the plant for days making sure that there was absolutely nothing that they could benefit from, hiding every nut and bolt for '09. What does a tour guide say to Adrian, "This is the design centre where we do our CFD modelling"? LMAO!
