Red Bull Reshuffle Engineers

Ian Morgan
By Ian Lockwood
January 9 2009
Red Bull Racing have announced a small reshuffle to its engineering team, aimed at strengthening the link between factory and race track activity.

Paul Monaghan, who for the past few years has attended grands prix as our Head of Race and Test Engineering, will now be mainly factory based, as Head of Car Engineering. His role will be to integrate the design, performance and reliability of the car into on-track performance.

Ian Morgan (pictured), who was Chief Test Engineer now takes on the role of Head of Race Engineering, in charge of all trackside engineering operations at races and tests.

Optimists POV - Horner has taken a long hard look at the skill sets and team dynamics. This assessment has led him to make these changes to ensure maximum performance through having the right people in the right job.

Pessimists POV - Paul Monaghan is the best man for the job but the missus has told him she's out of there if he doesn't start spending more time at home. Morgan doesn't really have the head for race day engineering but he's the best of a bunch of bad options.

separate test teams throughout F1 will be dissappearing / massively downsizing anyway as there is no in-season testing allowed anymore.

This announcement is a reaction to that.
