Renault makes heavily upgraded engine for US Grand Prix

By Craig Hinton
October 20 2015

It is about time Renault upgraded their engine, lets hope Red Bull can now have similar HP to Merc and Ferrari.

We learned from various media source, that Renault will use the bulk of their 12 tokens for an updated engine that is set to be accessible completely for Red Bull Racing and not Toro Rosso.

Renault updates mainly with the internal combustion engine (ICE) and some minute changes to the turbo. Most importantly, the new Power Unit has passed a full cycle on the dyno, which guarantees it’s reliability.

The French manufacturer will make the previous spec, used in Russia, available should Red Bull decide against using the upgraded engine.

It is understood Renault’s other customer Toro Rosso, which is close to a contract to use 2015-spec Ferrari engines next year, will not run the Renault upgrade at Austin.

Renault will permit Red Bull to make a decision whether they will use it or not, if do, then they will get a Grid Place Penalty for the US Grand Prix.

Use the engine. Use it to test it in only the remaining 4 races.

If there is any truth it's a 6% increase in performance and that's not too shabby.

Much more fun watching Dan come up from the back of the grid, so just take the new engine, guys!

(You need anything you can get against Toro Rosso!)

It is funny the hate the williams jboard fans have for red bull. They are so mad at red bull for being critical about the renault after having put up with it for over one whole season with no development. They still suport alonso when he is even more critical of honda just over half way through the season.

I wonder if it really is something else they hate...

The most hated team by Williams fans is Red Bull I think it is part because Red Bull are a threat to them.

Williams fans seem to have the same hate for Red Bull as they had for Webber and his fans.

Interesting reading Webber's views on Williams in his book. He reckons they had completely lost their way and were resting on the laurels of their past successes.

I
think the same can be said of their fan base.

A glimmer of hope with a fast engine behind them, but with a fundamentally complacent engineering capability.

It's not just Williams fans, if you're honest with yourself Red Bull didn't handle this situation with any class. You do not bad mouth your strategic partner and throw them under the bus openly in public.

It's not the best of business practices, just ask your employer.

I don't condone Red Bull for being angry or for wanting to be competitive but they have simply shat on all engine suppliers and the message they sent to all fans is that if we don't get our way we'll take our toys and go home. If that's being sporting then the sooner they leave the better.
