By Sam Cooper
June 21 2007
The Spaniard completed McLaren’s testing duties on the third day of the Silverstone test, the day’s weather was an improvement on the previous days, with only light rain in the afternoon and cloud cover the only problems of the day. Fernando was still half a second behind the rejuvenated Ferrari of Felipe Massa, who ended the day first, boosting the spirits within the Italian team.

Ferrari’s Felipe Massa headed the field setting the fastest time off all the three days testing at the British circuit, the Brazilian completing the lap of the 5.1 KM circuit in 1.20.805. Nico Rosberg finished the day second 0.4 seconds behind Felipe.

Spains Fernando Alonso took over from fellow countryman Pedro De La Rosa to complete the final day of testing at the Northamptonshire circuit, Fernando was just one tenth of a second behind Nico Rosberg, but was 0.5 seconds behind pace setter Felipe Massa, the heavily updated Ferrari certainly showing that the Italian team have found some pace in the F2007.

Son of former world champion Nelson Piquet was in action for the ING Renault team, the Brazilian completing 108 laps of the circuit, finishing 0.6 seconds behind pace setter Felipe Massa, with Jarno Trulli 4 tenths behind. Nine teams were present at the British test, with Honda and Super Aguri testing in Jerez.
