McLaren will find themselves in the final pit garage for next weekend’s Grand Prix at Bahrain.
It is traditional for the garages to be allocated according to where the team came in the constructors’ championship the previous season. As McLaren had their points stripped due to the Spygate affair in 2007, they should take the 11th garage. So that all of the team’s infrastructure could fit in, they were allocated the fifth garage in Australia and Malaysia. Circuit organisers for this weekend though have announced that Formula 1 Management have decreed that McLaren must take the 11th garage in Sakhir. “We understand that it is in the line with the rules and regulations of the sport for McLaren, which scored no points in the 2007 constructors’ championship, to take the final set of garages” said Sakhir circuit boss Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa. “……………..we must apologise to McLaren fans and accept that this is force majeure”.Bookmark or share this story with:
