McLaren admits lack of pace
By Syco Bill
March 14 2009
The McLaren Mercedes team, held a meeting at their base in Woking yesterday, to discuss their recent lack of pace with the McLaren MP4-24. McLaren have been off the pace, compared to their rivals throughout the recent tests and the introduction of their new aerodynamic floor has not had the impact that the team thought they would have. Martin Whitmarsh was joined by Lewis Hamilton and Hekki

Kovalainen yesterday (13th March 2009)

With Brawn GP appearing to have the pace over McLaren and Ferrari, there may have to be drastic changes to the aerodynamics of the McLaren MP4-24 to get the team to the level that they need to be at, to protect Lewis's title.

We must remember that Brawn GP are using the same Mercedes engines as the McLaren. Brawn GP, previously Honda F1 Racing, have been working on the new BGP001 since mid-season last year, as they realised that it would give them an advantage in 2009. However, even with lack of testing the BGP001 has shown incredible pace, especially with Barrichell's time of:  1.18.926. Hamilton was nearly two seconds behind the flying Brazillian, howing that McLaren have to pull something out of the bag within 2 weeks.

Hi everyone Syco Bill here! I am going to be writing some more articles on the site, please feel free to question any grammatical errors, as I am currently applying to the Metropolitan Police and need to work on my grammar :)

Thanks everyone

Bill

It's a bit of a pity, but anyway, let's see... hope they recover significantly, at least after 3 races. Anyway Lewis will still fight for it. Let's hope we're not seriously off-pace, just slightly...

i sure hope you're right, just slightly, but Macca has always been on the bottom of the timesheets this winter test, i don't think that's a slight off-pace, i hope they get to turn things around in two days time left in testing. i hate to see Macca on the end of the grid but it seems like this year is going to be an uphill struggle for the team.
