This change has caused the McLaren MP4-24 to over steer wildly, resulting in Lewis and Hekki having to wait for longer after a corner to apply the power.
This new device may give McLaren the information they need to sort out their over steer problems. The team have seemingly tried to learn more about the 2009 regulations by reverting back to their 2008 rear wing. Ron Dennis denies reports that this was done to get more of an understanding of the 2009 spec wing.
McLaren have been seen to have problems with their new car and after reports of emergency talks with the McLaren engineers regarding their problems, Ron Dennis has told the BBC that, 'testing is about disciplined approach to making the car go faster and you have to ignore the performance of other teams'.
Ron has also been quoted saying that they were leaving the Australian race aero package until the last Jerez test, which is advancing now. Therefore, this new device that has appeared maybe the first signs of things to change, regarding the McLarens testing times. Ron is also adamant that 'it's unlikely McLaren Mercedes team will be the slowest of the Mercedes runners'.
From where the fans are standing, the McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 does not look up for the challenge of Brawn GP and Renault, however according to these reports, Ron and the team are very happy with the progress that they are making with the car and not worried at all.
Are these reports trying to throw fans off the sent of a problem or will McLaren have their winning form back soon?
