Melbourne, Second Friday Practice.
By Läel Damasceno
March 27 2009
In Friday Practice two, McLaren were the slowest Mercedes powered team with the new BGP team leading the pack of the German engine manufacture.

The end result would see Heikki and Lewis finishing together at the back of the pack in 17th and 18th places respectfully.

Lewis lost out on a quick lap at the end of the session following a slippery moment. The car has shown that it is capable of putting up a challenge, perhaps today's times are not a true indication of the mess to come tomorrow in qualifying.

Here are the results for FP2

Hi guys,

back after 1 year to show support to our team! smiling smiley
As to the practise results... I've been watching the 2nd practise live and I don't have a goog feeling about it sad smiley
I hope for some points, but I think even that is not very realistic. Never mind, I'm not a bandwagon fan! Go McLaren!

Re: Melbourne, Second Friday Practice.
FP1 was positive, FP2 not so much. I'm not too worried though, we all knew the early races would be a bit of an ordeal, but fingers crossed the two cars can make it into the point for the flyaways. Barcelona is where the car will hopefully take a big forward step.

With regards to practice - FP2 was pretty much all about longer runs, heavy fuel, checking out the tyres. Note that in FP1, when everyone was doing setup work, Heikki was quite high up. Lewis was only low down because he was struggling with setup, and this was sorted out by FP2. Times weren't chased in that session, hence the final positions.

I'm predicting Lewis and Heikki to qualify around 12th, fuel heavy, win some points.

Humm, I'd expect the Qualifying speeds to be achieved in FP3. We didn't seem bad in FP1. Willaims or Brawn will win

Re: Melbourne, Second Friday Practice.
Let's consider the next 4 races as an "extended in-season test period". Chance of scoring points is very slim, so hopefully they will at least collect as much data as possible to give the guys in Paragon a chance to rectify the problem.
The only really positive info so far is for me the (until now) 100% reliability and no KERS problems...
