Honda Racing F1 appoint new Marketing Director

The Honda Racing F1 Team is pleased to announce the appointment of David Butler to the position of Marketing Director. David joins the team from Laureus, where he was Marketing Director for the Laureus Sports Awards, the Laureus World Sports Academy and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.

Laureus is a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and Richemont, the luxury goods group. David brings to Honda more than 15 years' experience in high profile marketing, sponsorship, corporate social responsibility and communications environments, both nationally and internationally.

Prior to joining Laureus, David spent seven years with Octagon / API in the UK and South Africa, becoming a Divisional Board Director managing a range of high profile sponsorship, media and broadcast initiatives.

In his new role with Honda, David's next exciting challenge will be to build on the successful launch of the F1 team's environmental marketing concept, which was introduced for the 2007 season. The 'Earth Car' has proven to be a major environmental landmark in Formula One and the sporting arena per se, as well as generating mass awareness and debate across the globe.

Since its inception, the team's myearthdream.com website has received more than 10 million hits from people accessing the site from around the world. In July of this year, the many fans who have pledged via the site to help address environmental problems saw their names incorporated into the 'earth' livery of the team's RA107 Formula One race cars for the first time.
