Spanish giant MAPFRE and Banco de Brasil join Brawn GP
By Phil Huff
October 16 2009
One of the largest Spanish insurance companies, MAPFRE, will be appearing on the engine covers of the Brawn GP cars in Brazil and Abu Dhabi, as the new sponsor replaces the existing team logo on both cars for the remainder of 2009.

"There are many values that Rubens Barrichello and MAPFRE share," explains Antonio Cassio dos Santos, President of MAPFRE Brazil. "This partnership is recognised by us as a great achievement to strengthen our brand in Brazil. We believe that the determination, persistence and success of Rubens are motivating factors for all Brazilians and meet our values too."

"I'm very happy with this partnership deal, showing the recognition of this year, winning races, and a lot of hard work from me and my team," added Rubens Barrichello. "It also points to Formula 1 as an important means of communication and relationship with major brands, such as the MAPFRE Group among others."

Also appearing on the car will be Banco de Brasil, taking on part of the front wing with their distinctive yellow and black logo. This second deal is also expected to remain on for the Abu Dhabi race in November.

Interestingly, MAPFRE and Banco do Brasil signed a letter of intent earlier this year to negotiate the joint development of insurance business of both groups in the Brazilian market.
