Shoichi Tanaka

Joining the Honda Motor Company in 1966, Shoichi Tanaka took on the Commercial Director role for Honda Brazil in 1971. Moving back to Japan in 1978, Tanaka took over as Sales Manager for Europe, working for four years to develop the market.

Joining the Honda Motor Company in 1966, Shoichi Tanaka took on the Commercial Director role for Honda Brazil in 1971. Moving back to Japan in 1978, Tanaka took over as Sales Manager for Europe, working for four years to develop the market.

A 1982 switch saw Tanaka named as President of Honda France, before moving back to Japan again in 1987 as General Manager of Power Products.

Climbing the ladder in 1988, the Senior Vice President of Honda America role was handed to Tanaka, a role he retained for eight years before overseeing the entire Honda operation in Indonesia.

Joining Honda Racing Development in 1999 as President, Tanaka came to work closely with BAR, eventually taking a seat on the teams Management Board in 2004.

Now aged 62, Tanaka has taking a step out of the limelight, becoming a Senior Advisor to both Honda Racing Development and the Honda Racing F1 Team.
